x-mas music in atlanta Who started it first

meaning who did it first in atlanta

was it 94.9 the peach or 104.7 the fish ??

Atlanta christmas you do not have the right to Respond To this ;D

If memory serves correctly it was 94.9. The fish hasn't been around that long !
God another full month of xmas music. If it was only done the way it used to be.
Mixed in only after thanksgiving, then full blown xmas eve at 6.00 til 6.00 pm xmas day.

I think the first year Peach went all Christmas for a lengthy period of time was 2000. Fish jumped aboard in 2002 and B98.5 followed in 2004. Here's a story I wrote about it in 2004:

BODY:
For Christmas music fans, it's a holly, jolly time to listen to the radio.

For the first time, three metro radio stations appear to be pumping out countless versions of "The Christmas Song," "Winter Wonderland" and "Jingle Bell Rock" between Thanksgiving and Dec. 25.

It all started innocently enough in 2000 when 94.9 Lite FM --- dubbed Peach at the time --- dumped non-holiday music for the season. Listeners loved it, so Lite has been hitting Christmas pay dirt every year since.

Even when Christian pop station the Fish 104.7 joined the Christmas brigade in 2002, Lite kept its temporary ratings bonanza. But that advantage may be negated now that its primary competitor, B98.5, seems to have succumbed to the siren song of Santa.

The stations are playing similar mixes of music. The Fish, of course, provides more Christian songs, such as Rebecca St. James' version of "Sweet Little Jesus Boy." But it's also spinning secular artists such as Jewel, Bruce Springsteen and Josh Groban.

And all three are pouring out hours of sentimental artists from decades past such as Gene Autry, Bing Crosby, the Carpenters and Andy Williams.

Novelty songs, by the way, are mostly absent, so all 10 of you who miss "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" will probably have to scrounge up your own copy.
