Hey, if you want a great laugh, filp over to 1470 WVOL during afternoon drive. It's the station's owner, John Heidelberg, doing an editorial political show, getting some real B.S. stired up. I heard him one afternoon get on the air with a potentional advertiser that he didn't need his money, go take your advertising somewhere else.

Try tuning in a bit earlier from noon to 3 and listen to Rev Graham's talk show, "Open Forum". He has a tendency to talk over callers trying to make somewhat valid points on a topic and then he'll 'flush' them if he doesn't agree (which is about every 5 to 6 minutes). Listen for the flush and a monkey wailing sfx and you'll hear what I mean.

Makes me wonder why they don't have a 7 second delay to 'weed' out the same pranksters who call daily?

Christmas music. . how about grindcore inspirational polka?

-M

Well fellas, Heidelberg was on that damn station preaching again this past Friday. WVOL has a "nasty buzz" in the backgroung of it's carrier. What's so funny, his station is a 5 KW directional daytime, and 1 KW directional pattern at night Class B, AM station, and his patterns are all out of wack!

I was going to go over there about this time last year to do some work for him, UNTIL a former empolyee "named Shawn" came by my station and told me Heidelberg fired him & warned me if I did any work for him, I wouldn't get paid. My wife raised hell with me over that and we made a decision that I would preform any services.

THEN....another engineer in the market, that I will not mention his name on this board, did a bunch of work for him and didn't get paid. The last I checked, the directional pattern (day & night) is way out of wack, the phaser needs to be replaced, and daytime, he can't make the full 5 KW because of the phaser problems going to those old towers. The phaser can be fixed to work o.k. until he can afford to buy a new one, but I guess he doesn't care.

I was told a cable going to tower #2 was lying on the ground and needed to be buired. If can't rent a trencher to bury it, he should get some fence post and make a "catwalk" with the cable to the tower. :-[

"Christmas music has already started on the Fish 94.1"

It says on there website they will go all Christmas on Tuesday, and then of course Mix will go all Christmas music on Friday.

I like Christmas music but not all day long. If they would play there regular format and mix in like one or two Christmas songs an hour that would be great. Do any stations in Nashville do that?

There are some cool Christmas songs and recodings out there. John Lennon's" Christmas song . Lennon and Yoko did this timeless Christmas cassic. Another Christmas tune that stands the test of time for me is Ray Davies of the KInks singing Father Christas give me some money or I'll beat yah up. LOL Another favorite that is not sappy, syrupy or whatever that really appeals to me is Nat King Cole doing "The Christmas Song:" Chhetz and Chong's "Santa Clause and his Old Lady" is just funny!!

There are some decent Christmas tunes out there, but stations such as 92.9 jump on Christmas way to early. I mean their fans can not hear their favorite Lionel Ritchey song for gosh, golly, what is it? Maybe an entire month? ::Sarcasm in check::: ;)

Yea, Bruce Springsteen has one I like. You should check out Billy Idol's Christmas CD. He's trying to be the "modern day" Elvis. Swiss, I wonder when Motley Crew will get old and record a Christmas CD?

AS OF FRIDAY MORNING, one of my presets in the car will come of of Mix 92.9! You should check out 103.7, The Point, serving the Bowling Green, KY market. Drive up 65 North, past White House and you should be able to hear them. Now, THAT'S A CLASSIC KICK ASS ROCK STATION!!!!! They are doing it right!

103.7, is that the frequency WNSR was supposed to get? I vaguely recall about ten years ago some WNSR bus boards and logo with the 560AM/103.7 FM. This happened while ESPN was still on 560. Somewhere in north Nashville I got WNSR on 103.7, albeit a VERY weak signal.

I have heard that station ay 103.7. I can sometimes get it late at night when the weather is clear and cool. They do rock out to be certain!

the FM side of WNSR was actually on 103.9...on a class-A (3kw) in Drakesboro, KY. no possible way this station
could ever even approach a listenable signal even remotely close to Nashville. FYI...Drakesboro is about 35 miles
northwest of Bowling Green...near Central City, KY...a LONG way out. at one time, the Sounds were promised FM coverage with this signal. oops. IIRC...the WNSR brass thought they could get the 103.9 antenna moved to the WUBT tower in Cross Plains: had that happened...then they would have had a fair Nashville signal...
but that move was a pipe dream. but, if you want to serve the strip-mining center of the world, 103.9 is it.

The call letters of 103.7 are WPTQ-FM, licensed to Cave City, KY. I'm not sure how much power they have. I'll have to look in the FCC database and how thier antenna structure is made up of.

Here is thier website link:

http://www.1037thepoint.net/

This is the best station in this area. If WPTQ was able to move closer to Nashville, it would kill 105.9, listenership wise. WKDF is second adjacent, so chances are it would never happen. WPTQ is probably limiting 103.9 in Drakesboro from moving any closer to Nashville as well. The Drakesboro station is first adjacent to WPTQ.

Scott ---

I just have to let you know that my wife is officially glued to MIX Christmas Music. We just finished putting
up the Christmas Tree and yeah we got to listen to Amy Grant and all the good ole tunes from the great
voices of the past. After a while, it was kinda painless and lets face it, women rule all our lives...so, I
officially submit and take the Scrooge veil off. It was a nice afternoon, even though I really to hoped to
hear Sarge blast into the control room demanding to play "Escape" just one more time before December.
You can't have everything, I guess. :(

Brilliant programmers be damned.

Yesterday, my wife made me get off my fat butt, move around the furniture, and our tree is going up this week. She made me get down all the decorations from the attic and watch one Christmas Movie with her Friday Night.

Billy Idol (Rocker of the 80's) now has a Christmas CD he came out with last year, trying to sound like Elvis. Sorry Billy, I rather have the "real thing".

My Treat or Escape last night was a bottle of Arbor Mist, in my chair, in front of our fire place, but I still had to listen to Billy Idol's Christmas Songs. I tried to play "Cat Scratch Fever", but I got a dirty look from her! :D

since we are slowing waxing nostolgic..i admit every year i MUST watch as many versions of "a christmas carol" that are aired..the best being the 1951 Alistir Simm version, as well as It's A Wonderful Life..but only once..the BB gun movie..Snoopy..all the OLD classic stuff...don't hold for modern remakes..and if i do listen to the Christmas music..has to be the old versions as well..hey..it's only a month..most of us endured bad marriages far longer than that

To Tibbs and Scott, a little diplomacy also works when battling the better half over Christmas media offerings. My girlfriend enjoys "White Christmas" starring Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. For each time I watch that movie with her, she watches "A Christmas Story" (Red Rider BB gun) with me. When Bing crooned a second time on ABC Family, I got to watch "Blazing Saddles".
