X-Studio automation - www.dcstools.com

Has anyone used this piece of software? Got their info from a friend this morning, and just curious to hear a little more about it. We use Digital Jukebox at our station now, but are having a hard time getting ahold of Jim Barcus, the creator, and are interested in something like this. Looks a lot like Maestro. Pricing seems reasonable.

Pros/Cons? Any other ideas for a non comm christian radio station? We need it to be able to handle sattelite switching for the D & K Morning show, and need remote voice tracking (and need it to be easy)

Having jumped off the Digital Junkbox wagon years ago (after I saw just how bad the Windows version of DJB was) I adopted StationPlaylist. It's about a 1/4 of the price of X-Studio and I have let is run unattended on a web stream for 6 months other than added voicetracks and it does a stellar job.

I checked out the site you mentioned and the first thing that turned me off were the windows floating on top of windows. Give me one main window to deal with (and less to let talent muck things up) and I am all happy.

DIGITAL JUKE BOX is alive!... Please read my other message...

If the day ever comes when they are no longer in business, we will probably go with OP- X or I-Media Touch.

I looked at OP-X and was extremely pleased with the demo at their website ( they also make bsi simian) and the demo I saw at the show. Internet Voice tracking is a cinch also.

Digital Juke Box is excellent

It does a nice job of Internet-based voice tracking. You should just email Ross directly or subscribe to their Yahoo-Groups interactive support. I'm sure besides getting direct support you can find any number of users who can give you an answer to your questions. I've only used internet voicetracking on a limited basis prior to closing my webstream but I never had any problems with it.

You're kidding, right? Being the person who authored the original review published in trade paper Radio World I received several emails from dissatisfied customers who either didn't get support or paid for product and never received it. Add to this the fact that when I was testing the Windows version of the Digital Jukebox that it trashed almost a year's worth of work on the songs database. That's when I had to ask myself "why was I even entertaining using such garbage?"

I had planned on going to Prophet's Nexgen system but I didn't have the budget for the system I needed. I was so happy to discover StationPlaylist and even happier to discover just how robust the system is. I never had an issue and it even stood on-air when I introduced a programming mistake by accident. It was a pleasure to send my old system to the digital junkbox.

I have used different versions of StationPlaylist since 2003 and it is absolutely the best radio automation software that has the most bang for the buck. It is extremely easy to use and once set up runs solid, day after day. If you should have a problem, email support is excellent and is usually answered in a matter of hours. Do yourself a favor and try the demo.
