X107.3 is translating what?

Are they airing legal TOH IDs?

Byron

I don't know but I'll be able to tell you all tomorrow when I get back to Altamonte.

Now they are back on 94.5 HD2. The electronic crackling noise is back on the HD channel too. It must be very hard to fix.

Is Steve Fluker not around, or aware that this is going on? Crackling noise would be something I'd expect engineering to fix, especially if its in the audio chain of a HD broadcast signal. (Then again, it sounds like this is only affecting the HD-2 side..)

Steve Fluker is no longer at Cox radio. He left a couple of years ago. He's now over at WFTV & WRDQ. One of the best engineers in the market, IMHO!

That explains things. Thank you sir. Agree with you, he is certainly one of the best.

I would say they are. The 107.3 signal does not have the constant crackling noise. Is it permissible to do that?

Translators that relay HD subchannels are considered fill-in translators, which means they may be fed directly instead of only off-air.

However, from what I understand, they are still supposed to go off-air if the signal they translate goes off-air.
