Let's think about this for a second. First off, an alternative format to go against Radio 105.7 would be awesome since I consider Radio 105.7 to be weak in the Alternative department. They have the worse sweepers, imaging, and their dj's are too scripted. That's a clear channel thing though. At any rate, I don't think Atlanta can handle two alternative stations. Alternative tends to go more towards the 20s and 30s and typically are women.
Now, I do think either Variety Hits (which would lean older) or Active Rock. I would think Active Rock has a better chance than Alternative considering the coverage area. Folks in the rural areas don't do Arcade Fire but they do like Five Finger Death Punch.
Active Rock is not doing well across the country so I'm still leaning in the Variety Hits direction which we all know will not be a long standing format. Maybe when active rock gets out of it's slump (which it will), perhaps this station would be the perfect frequency to go there. Only time will tell though.
