X98.5 has one giant playlist for an alternative station

Sorry, couldn't resist...

And, quite honestly, they don't play a lot of that music, BUT are just starting to use Mediabase and are actively promoting "instant requests". The station really has been sounding great with more "big market" style imaging and staying on top of new stuff.

Taking to the interim PD there, sounds like their numbers in target demos are going up too. When they first came in in August 2012, I know some didn't think it would last a year. Nice to still have it as an option almost 2.5 years later.

That is not their playlist. That is a a Mediabase research page of some kind. There are a number of stations that do not subscribe to Mediabase or who are not monitored that have these sorts of "request pages."

Well, I honestly didn't think it was their real playlist, since I already said they don't play a lot of songs on it.

But that doesn't negate the possibility that they may play some songs not on their regular rotation.

That plus the fact that the station has been making huge efforts in social media, remotes, beefed up their image, keeping up with new music and even starting to take requests. That's HUGE for a small little translator.

A large playlist. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm? I wonder why that is?
