XEFCR AM 1670 Reynosa

After weeks of playing soft rock, XEFCR Reynosa is airing some sort of talk/informercial programming. Anyone familiar with the station or its owners?

The music was for testing. It is owned by Fomento Cultural Reynosa A.C. which is a locall non-commercial operator.

David, do you know what the plans are for the station? I think the upper frequencies on AM and FM are going to non commercial stations in the country, when possible.

I heard the station about an hour ago via daytime skywave. They were airing news talk and IDing as Heraldo Radio 98.5 FM.

Thats the same format thats on XEPE 1700... relay of a mexico city station with news talk by day and ac/oldies at night

Is this a relatively new station? I wonder if I'll still be able to pull in WMGE out of Macon, GA at night here in South Texas or if XEFCR will overpower it. I haven't tried 1670AM in awhile.

It is a new station--the first I learned of it was around December 2021. And it will likely overpower WMGE.

This past Saturday, I was able to pull in 1670AM Reynosa from 6am-7am in Port Lavaca. The Station's moniker is, "Por Tus Radio."

These are the songs I heard:

Song Artist Time
Here Comes the Sun The Beatles 6:13am
I've Got You Under My Skin Frank Sinatra 6:17am
L-O-V-E Nat King Cole 6:20am
How Deep is Your Love Bee Gees 6:22am
It Must Have Been Love Roxette 6:25am
Nikita Elton John 6:30am
Alone Heart 6:36am

This is the last new non-community X-band station Mexico will ever have (1610 to 1700 is allocated for exclusive awards to new community and indigenous stations, much like 106 to 108 MHz on the AM band). I'm surprised it got awarded when it did, quite honestly.
