Anyone else noticed all the XL 1067 billboards across town are upside down. Any ideas why? Other than thats the direction their ratings are going
 
actually, i figured they put them up, and didn't notice......then wouldn't pay to fix them

i mean, they still have Doc and Johnny on there Vans, and that ended 3 months ago.

probably a message that they are turning the station upside down starting with the first thing you hear.

thats what they did in 4 other markets when they were changing a daypart.

It's an old trick designed only to get attention. There's nothing to fix, actually
 
One thing different about the playlist today is since midnight about every so many songs is one that they havent played in sometime.

For example the following songs have been played today:

Every Morning, fades to black, with no point, no logic for why it aired. Whats started with such passion
just goes pointless..... yea, the upside down billboards are a clue that they are going to try and make it right
Otherwise, why did they wait 17 years to get attention?
 
So, if your doing a hot AC...... then why did you take your morning show to kiddie
land. Thats what the upside down thing is trying to tell you......a " flip "
 
Yeah it seems the took a good chunk of the hip hop and r & b out also. except for those in the top 10... Any guesses as to when we might see an official flip. I mean they are kinda of silently promoting red hot and boom still. This also poses another good question. If they drop the Top 40 format, will WOCL pick it up and will Doc and Grace return there?
 
Sounds like it has already starting to drop, but then again, it begs the question...
why shove out Doc and Grace for having the audacity to speak to 35 year old females
( by the way, done very well) then, going total inane, lets talk to 20 year olds, THEN
take the Music where other 2 , the Best talents in this town, had it anyway?

well it explains the upside down billboards, i hope the air talents are covering themselves......
AND.......105.9........Doc and Grace, they would wipe out whats left of XL, but they could do that
from any station that wants a show that makes people care. You think this is some sort of bizzare
plot twist, just to get attention, that Doc and Grace will never really Left? Otherwise,
the Soprano's made more sense. They might as well fill next season's "Lost " from Maitland
Center parkway
 
Now, I have truly heard everything. Doc and Grace - 'the Best Talents in this town' ! I call BS. The only person that thinks Doc is one of the best talent's in Orlando is <<drumroll please>> DOC.

What a load of crap! Doc, isn't there a Predators game you should be announcing or something?

I never said HE was the best talent , i said Doc and Grace were whats best for XL, if this new " older direction " was what they settled on. then why the upheavel, change, " cool young show" hip hop, rap.......then you settle on , well what you already had. I dont care about him, Russ Rollins, Scott Mc Kenzie,
Dave collins.......but for that situation, why mess with what works? I would say the same thing about them.
All radio people have ego issues, otherwise they would be losers working at Best Buy or Radio Shack.
 
Any chance that after 17 years it was simply over? It was a good run, but it hasn't been a good show in a long time. Didn't both Doc and Grace quit? They weren't fired in the press I saw.
 
Hey, some people hate howard, some people hate Joyner, you dont have to have liked that show. But what makes it better now? and when you change the music back to "adult" , all i said was, they already had that in place. Say what you want, you dont like him, great. Dont think they were any good, great. But why is it better, and why the flip flop?

Where are you guys getting that the station is going older? I don't hear any changes.

We say it's going older because of the tweaking out of the hip hop songs. Look at their Top 100 on Yes.Com and you'll notice a significant absence. To me it sounds older and less hip and basically I've moved on to other stations. XL used to have a great mix, better than most CHR but the recent changes have me scratching my head. Orlando already has a HOT AC with MIX and their ratings are about the same as XL's.
 
I agree with you that XL was one of the better sounding stations I had ever heard. When I moved here in 2000, XL played a great mix of pop, dance, rock and hip hop and actually sounded like a local station, not the voice tracked stuff that we hear today. Some of the other songs they have thrown in the last couple of days include

If you go to the website now. It flashes the upside down logo and then goes to a redesigned website that says = XL106.7 All American Summer .. I think if its gonna be an All American Summer it should be songs that were upbeat summer songs, not modern ac songs
