#XL25

HAPPY 25TH BIRTHDAY WXXL-FM (XL 106.7)! To commemorate this moment, XL 106.7 is using it's old logo from the 1990's to late 2000's again temporarily. Also, they are using #XL25. I love that station whenever I go to Orlando from time to time (usually, from Tampa Bay, so I don't go there often). However, I can get it in my usual trips to Hernando County, due to it's terrain, and it could catch WXXL-FM at times from a car radio. Sometimes, I could get it until North Hillsborough County, in which it fades into either static, or interfering with adjacent 106.5 WCTQ. HAPPY B-DAY WXXL! BTW, Johnny Magic has been with XL since almost the beginning in 1990.

I can go back further than 1989 when WHLY became WXXL. Originally WLBE-FM Leesburg, the station later became WHLY "Y 106" in the mid 70s playing a variety of MOR soft hits. It wasn't until 1983 that Y 106 morphed into a Top 40 / CHR station, with a brief period as WCAT "Y 106 The Cat, going back to WHLY and later transforming to WXXL "XL 106.7" in 1989.

Although I do not listen to WXXL nowadays, I can remember growing up in Orlando and listening to Y106 The Cat. I used to love that station along with BJ105.

Since it became XL, no one has been able to knock it off as the Heritage CHR Station in the market.
