XM 27 The Bridge

I have noticed in the past week that the Bridge has made some muisc changes in the past week for the better. The are more of a softer classic rock which is very enjoyable. They also have better veriety. They used to get to the point they played the same stuff over and over again. Too much Van Morrison and obscure stuff. They seemed to have taken that stuff out of the play list. On Classic Rewind, the tend to play too much U2, so I have gone to The Bridge. I am hoping with enough complaints that maybe they will make some changes to keep people. I am up in February, and if things don't change, I am not renewing. I can get the same crap on regular radio and not have to pay for it. Just wanted to post something a little positive about XM. Lets see what happens.

Ah, so YOU'RE the person with mainstream tastes that Sirius XM is now programming The Bridge for!!! ;D

Seriously, there are a bunch of upset longtime XM subscribers over on the Xmfan.com board who are reaming management for removing those "obscure" songs in favor of tried-and-tested softer classic rock. I must admit, as a big Van Morrison fan, I sympathize with them. But I've always felt that there are many more people out there with purely mainstream, hits-only musical preferences and that Sirius XM has decided that making sure they get the music they love on FM, just without the commercials, will please more subscribers in the long run that taking every musical channel, even the ones that are supposed to be playing nothing but "safe" familiar hits, out on voyages of discovery.

the Bridge would be pretty good except for TOO MUCH CAT STEVENS

Drake and Neil get plenty of exposure on The Village, XM 15. (not available on the Sirius platform)

Not much, but The Village (folk) and The Groove ('80s R&B) are XM only, as are three Canadian music channels and a half dozen or so channels programmed by the "evil" Clear Channel on XM bandwidth it owns as a condition of its early significant investment in XM. Sirius has a couple of Sirius-only music channels, including those programmed by the CBC, which had an exclusive deal with Sirius.

There are also differences in the talk and sports lineups. Sirius can't air any program syndicated by Premiere Networks, because Premiere is just Clear Channel's syndication arm. Sirius also can't carry Major League Baseball play-by-play. Supposedly, MLB wants more money to extend satellite streaming rights to the Sirius platform, and Sirius XM is actually looking to pay LESS for sports down the road. There are also a few colleges whose sportscasts are exclusive to Sirius under terms of contracts signed when Sirius and XM were separate corporations.

Not true about talk. Sirius XM Patriot has Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. It is on Sirius & XM. Both are Premiere shows.
