On the XM 60's channel this afternoon (3/31), they are reportedly saluting KQV's top 40 heydey period. I believe it starts at 4pm. Maybe they took everything off Jeff Roteman's website.

17 years of a heydey followed by 30 years in a coma. Thank goodness for Jeff's site and the XM 60's tribute. Does 'DVE still play the KQV-FM jingle on Friday mornings?

Don't know about that. When I first caught the KQV salute yesterday, Terry sounded like he was fumbling for words and wasn't prepared in the 5pm hour, it got better as time went on, However why do they continue to run CQ at 6pm during the salute? If you are going to do CQ during the Friday station salute, wouldn't it make sence to encourage callers from the market being saluted to call and air those callers?(Talk about memories of the station etc) It struck me a bit strange to hear a guy from South Carolina call ask for his song and make no mention to Pittsburgh during his request!I heard another call from an 11 year old that was cute, but no mention of ties to Pittsburgh or KQV made in the phoner!

I think it would be better if they limited their salutes to just a couple of hours, and make it more comprehensive, with less of the XM DJ and more of the old air clips. I thought the same thing too, about the requests coming from all over the country, from people with no knowledge of KQV. They seemed to feature the early to mid sixties jingles too, instead of the "WABC" style of the late sixties.

Yes, although they did air a small portion of the infamous Rex Miller aircheck from Miller's last week on KQV (before leaving for and never showing up at WAYS/Charlotte).

Peg me as probably one of the only people who enjoyed the early 1968-early 1969 PAMS Drake package ("Pittsburgh's K-Q-V...FOURTEEN!")
