XM and Sirius radio online

After this merger is completed it seems to me that one thing they could quickly do to get fans of both services interested in the expanded programming offerings would be to merge the two online services. I listen at work online a lot and would definitely sample some of Sirius' channels if I could get them on XM radio online.

In light of AOL's deal with CBS for 140+ channels and Clear Channel announcing a 900 channel free online radio site, it seems to me that anything XM-Sirius could do to keep up would be very wise.

I completely agree. I suggested on another board that this would also be an excellent way to gauge relative popularity of various channels; this would help the merged company clarify which channels to keep on board the satellites. (Hopefully, channels that get cut from satellite transmission can survive in some form online.)
