XM artist rotation across channels

This may have been discussed before, but has anyone noticed that XM seems to go through an entire artist’s repertoire across all their channels at once?

For example. If I’m listening to Classic Vinyl and hear a Fleetwood Mac tune, it’s a safe bet that if I scan the other channels, within a very short time I’ll hear a Fleetwood Mac song on every channel that plays that artist.

I'm not imagining this...I spend a lot of time on the road and it’s happened way too much with too many artists to be a coincidence.

Anyone else notice this or have any insight as to how that happens?

Yes, I've noticed it. And if it was just Fleetwood Mac, I wouldn't think twice about it since they are the default mass appeal baby boomer group for the 70s, classic vinyl, the Bridge and other channels. The interesting thing is when I see it with a group that had only a couple of tunes and they are playing simultaneously on say Classic Vinyl and Deep Tracks, or Classic Rewind and Boneyard. I noticed this before the merger (I am a Sirius subscriber) and I still see it now. I'm guessing it has something to do with the server software, but I have no idea.

Exactly right. I just used Fleetwood Mac as an example, but it’s true with any artist.

At least I know I’m not nuts.
;D

Yes, the same thing happens with Elton John or Billy Joel: it will be on the 70's then show up (sometimes simultaneously) on The Bridge and another channel at the same time. More than just coincidence I'm sure; some robot program is doing weird crap like this.
Imagine if they had real XM music programmers again!

I noticed this just the other day. Coldplay was playing on Hits 1, Alt Nation, 20on20, and The Pulse all at the same time. And all were songs off of their latest album "Mylo Xyloto". Of those, "Paradise" was playing on both Hits 1 and Alt Nation I believe.

Would be nice if Mel would spend some of his newly raised subscription prices to hire back some of the 'real' music programmers to the music channels, but they won't happen until Mel loses control of the company and one of the old XM music-lovers (like Abrams) takes the wheel. (don't I wish)
