Something to do with Clear Channel.

Sirius will likely follow suit on that. Afterall, they might need to raise some additional revenue to pay Howard Stern. I wonder how many of his listeners bought a Sirius receiver just to listen to Stern. While part of my subscription is paying Stern, I don't listen to him. Never have! Never will! I mainly listen to the music channels Pulse, Chill, Big 80's, Starlite, & Sirius Love.

Actually, Xm is gonna start carrying commercials because of some agreement with Clear Channel, from the early days of satellite-XM suppossedly is only doing this due to the agreement and plans on adding more commercial free channels to make up for it...

What IS? Maybe, what WAS he thinking?

This stems back from XM's early days. Clear Channel was an early investor in the project, and they obviously made a smart enough move to be able to liquidate the investment by having full control of four channels.

Clear Channel used to be a serious invester in XM and provided a lot of its early programming. This is fulfilling an old contract from when music channels carried spots. I don't think he has much choice.
