XM Claire B Lang

Don't mean to be too critical, but wonder if anyone agrees with me on this.

I think Claire B. Lang on XM 144 does a great job in getting interviews, and finding the latest breaking news in NASCAR. But her live program drives me crazy! She tends to ramble on and waste a lot of time getting from one subject to the next. When she goes to break, it takes her about two minutes to ramble back and forth on what is coming up and what she has just discussed. And she suffers some callers who would be quickly put out to pasture on more professional call-in shows.

Please XM. After the merger, stick with the call-in shows already in place on the Sirius NASCAR channel, and use Claire for NASCAR news, produced interviews, and reporting. She excels on those jobs, but seems a little weak on live radio.

This show was much better when it was a little more freeform, not having to stop every 20 minutes for the same two alternating College football/basketball updates. I do not understand why the canned updates are so damn important. And most of the spots are XM cross promotions. This show would benefit greatly if they would reconsider the hard stop network/affiliate format and let her stop watching the clock.

Claire never was very good at keeping the flow going. It's not just her monologues. Even her interviews tend to have very long winded rambling questions. I've always hoped someone would reply "I'm sorry, what was the question again?". Truth is that she is very well liked in the garage, she has many contacts that help get her scoops and other inside information, and she committed to XM even after knowing the NASCAR package was going to Stern-ius radio.
