Marlin Taylor is in a Yahoo group I belong to, and he made it clear that after the Hanukkah programming ends, Escape goes back to the way HE wants it to be, not what his bosses told him it should be.

The Dude said:All the XM programmers should TAKE A STAND and run thier stream THE WAY THEY RAN IT BEFORE SIRIUS CAME IN!!!! (TOTALLY TAKE CONTROL BACK OVER XM)
A couple of things. He didn't actually post his intentions. He told someone in the group what he was going to do, and the group member who posted (and not just anyone can read Yahoo group messages) made it sound like he had made his bosses back down. It's true that people have been cancelling their XM service over the increased vocals. Escape as it was is one of the most popular channels; I haven't heard any recent results.CTListener said:The Dude said:All the XM programmers should TAKE A STAND and run thier stream THE WAY THEY RAN IT BEFORE SIRIUS CAME IN!!!! Do any of you people have any idea what an employer-employee relationship is? Employee does what employer wants done, period. Employee may try to convince the employer otherwise, but ultimately the employer has the last word. And sabotaging the finished product (which is what breaking format is, on radio) is insubordination. If Taylor is actually saying he's going to do what the original poster said he's going to do, and is dumb enough to post his intentions on the Internet, I'd be surprised to see him still on the Sirius XM payroll when Christmas rolls around. If he's really so committed to a traditional "beautiful music" format (new music for which hasn't been recorded for more than 25 years), he ought to quit and try to peddle his concept to Internet radio or some struggling FM that wants to reach that coveted 75-to-dead demographic.

Radio Margaritaville was on Sirius and is a great station.

This is only true if you own stock.mmnassour said:The Dude said:Sirius is garbage and XM should take control back!!
Folks...ya gotta remember something....there was no merger! Sirius took over XM. There is no more XM.
All we've got is Sirius programming (in the main) with a few XM labels plastered on.
Repeat...XM is no more, and hasn't been for about a year.

Yeah, I read about this in the Yahoo group.passtheword said:For those of you who aren't already aware, DirecTV will be dropping the XM programming on 2/10 and replace it with Sonic Tap. Most of the music XM channels are being replaced with comparable channels from Sonic Tap. However, this is not the case with "Escape". Instead of replacing "Escape" with Sonic Tap's "beautiful instrumental" channel, DirecTV will replace channel 820 with the "contemporary instrumental" channel. Looking at Sonic Tap's playlist, the contemporary instrumental format appears to be nothing more than smooth jazz with some new age thrown in. The "beautiful instrumentals" channel isn't exactly the same as "Escape" since it is more than likely strictly instrumentals, but it's much closer in format than the "contemporary instrumentals" channel which will be offered. I hope this is just an error on DirecTV's end and "Escape" will be replaced with the "beautiful instrumentals" channel. I'll be emailing DirecTV to voice my opinion on it, nonetheless.

A few years ago, I was in a mall that used DMX and they were playing beautiful instrumentals and it was like nothing I had ever heard.
If it hasn't changed since then, it'll make Escape look positively hip if they decide to use it. If they don't, that's just not right.
