I find it disgusting that they would cowtail to the special interest groups and suspend Opie and Anthony. Looking forward to moving to Sirius once they fire Opie and Anthony in a couple of weeks. I bet they will lose quite a few subscriptions over this.
 
I'm disgusted they only got SUPENDED. They should FIRE these bozos who have to resort to sophomore in high school toilet humor and RAPE humor.

What happened to people who didn't need vulgarity to get a laugh?
 
First of all, it wasn't O&A who said it. It was a homeless guy.

Secondly, the show is a lot smarter than you realize. Obviously you don't listen otherwise you would probably think differently. Sure they go the lowest common denominator sometimes, but they can carry on some very intelligent conversation when they need to.

So much for the renegades that XM purported themselves to be. I guess none of these companies have (or will grow) a set of balls anymore.

By the way....who was offended and are calling for their firing this time?

hammondo, did you actually ever listen to the show? I'm doubting you ever did, other than the 1 minute clip that the "drive by" media has forced down our throats. I think this is setting a terrible precedent that if you don't like a certain program, if you complain and harass the right people, you can get rid of said program. I don't want America to turn into this.

Here's a scoop; No complicated stuff on their program; "OTHER THAN" was more than enough. Fire 'em NOW and replace them with someone who can do MORE that humor for 3rd graders!

I have never heard the show, and probably will never listen to it. From all the publicity I have heard and read in the past it is not anything that I would appreciate anyway.

That said, let me say that I am still researching to find out what actually happened, what was said that was so bad etc.

BUT no matter what was said, and no matter who said it, O&A are the hosts of the show and they are ultimately responsible for its content, along with their producer if they have one. I would hope that a show which is often offensive and has live guests who are not employees would be running a delay to prevent anything the hosts or producer knew should not be on the air. If they were not on delay, or did not press the dump button then they are saying they approved of what was said by their actions, and they should bear responsibility.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility anyway? Will nobody just stand up and say I take the responsibility for this action? Is that concept dead in 2007? Is appears it is.
 
Considering that you don't listen to the show and just to make sure you are informed, O&A did apologize for the comment. Whether or not it was heartfelt or not is another issue.

I would hope that a show which is often offensive and has live guests who are not employees would be running a delay to prevent anything the hosts or producer knew should not be on the air.

According to whose standards? By virtue of this particular segment airing on XM makes anything the FCC can do about it null and void. Perhaps if what was said offended some of the listeners at the moment, it would be a different story....but it didn't, so where's the harm?
 
What people fail to aknowledge is that O&A's show is on an XL channel. You can BLOCK those more offensive channels so you and your little virgin eared family don't have to hear the "real" world.

As for them firing them. They shouldn't. They also should not censor what isn't supposed to be censored anyway. Leave that for FCC regulated terestrial (Sp?) radio.
 
I think thier mistake was THEY WERE ALSO HEARD ON REGULAR FM RADIO DURING THIS PARTICULAR SHOW!!!!!

Why are they simulcasting on FM? -- Thier show doesnt fit the standard FM format and your gonna have idiots listening on FM who wanna cause problems like this!!!!

They should just stick to XM,if they had,no one would have heard them that day (They only ones who would have are ppl that know what to expect)

You dont see Howard stern taking his show back to FM radio do ya?? (And for his sake i hope he doesnt!!)
 
Regardless of the decision XM makes regarding the O&A issue, I will remain a subscriber for all the other great content they offer. 8)

Still the original question persists, were they running a delay? If so, why did they not hit the dump button to keep the unsavory comments from airing? Because they approved of what was said, therefore they bear at least partial responsibility for the comments, even though they did not make them personally. Trying to pass the blame off onto someone who is not an employee is just cowardice and failure to take personal responsibility. An apology after the fact does not give them clean hands, because it is most likely insincere. If they were really sincere with the apology, the incident would likely have never occured.

By whose standards? By the standards of the great majority of Americans, that is whose standards. Now that is not to say that offensive comments should not be allowed on sat radio. I still believe that they should be running a delay to prevent comments that are really over the line from airing. Remember, hosts have NO control over live guests, no matter how much you may caution them in advance, once the mike is live, they can say anythign they want, and once its out, a delay is the only way to keep it off the air.
 
Until recently XM promoted them as “uncensored and outrageous” and sold subscriptions based on that “anything goes” promise. The copy used today reads “outrageous radio” so the point is that they were uncensored before and now they’re not.

I understand how many of you feel about this type of humor, but remember that you have your own personal dump button. Change the channel, turn it off, or tell XM to block the channels that offend you.

O&A are paid to offend the majority of Americans. The rest of us kinda like the show.
 
O&A are talentless! Has America come to this so called type of entertainment? I'm not a holy roller by any means but O&A are nothing but filth. I'd like to see XM take them off. I believe their days are numbered anyway.
