XM is now on AOL Radio

The music channels for XM are now on AOL radio. I am thinking of buying a wireless FM transmitter so I can hear XM on other radios in the house.

Just click on Radio@AOL and the XM channels will come up

I wonder if they're going to include the annoying features that make you have to come back and click the stream to keep it active like on other channels. The real XM online listening site also makes you do that.

My original thought was "what are those idiots doing, giving away the store?".
I opened my radio@aol and found only twenty music streams in the XM folder. I wonder if they will switch around which streams they will make available. I am not an AOL subscriber, but I signed in with my AIM account info and the program keeps trying to open but isn't able to; probably because I keep refusing to install and run AOL. It also freezes Internet Explorer and requires me to force-close it. Me thinks the days of free AOL radio have cometh and goneth! Does anyone know what terrible things might happen should one decide to accept the program?
______________

Reasoning for placing XM on AOL

If Internet radio listeners enjoy XM through AOL, they will buy a radio for the car or buy a MyFi and subscribe to it. It seems to be a Win Win situation for XM and AOL.

Only if they like at least one of the twenty streams they are offering...not my favorites by a loooong shot. AOL seems now to be including their radio service to paid AOL subs only.
______________

You could always get Xamp to listen to XM channels without the annoying interruption. Xamp also features song and artist notificaton.

There are 20 Free channels for Non-Subscribers and Non-AOL Members.
I had to download http://cdn.digitalcity.com/radio/ampx/ampx_2_6_1_11_en.exe

That promt came up after I asked to listen to XM.

Here's the website to connect to AOL XM Radio:
