XM Monthly charge question

I'm thinking hard about getting XM. These HD Radio comercails on FM is about to drive me out of listening to FM. If Sirius and XM come together, will the monthly plans change? I'm waiting untill that happens before I decide.

I would say go ahead and get started, as the FCC and DOJ are taking record long time to approve the merger, or not.

XM has/had a deal where you get three months free out of the gate when you buy a new radio and start a sub. $12.95 plus tax is a bargain for what you get, in my opinion. I'll skip 2 lunches to keep my XM.

If you love programming choice and music with no talk, you will love sat radio. I don't know of anyone who has subscribed to either Sirius or XM and not continued with them. Traditional radio is so bad with the same narrow playlists and blah blah blah that for a minimal $140. a yr you can enjoy radio as you like it.

dont wait do it now! Even if approved it will still be 2 seperate companies. I have both but prefer XM.

go with xm...their music library is far superior to sirius..even though the company's are combining. as for sports...xm has mlb and nhl...sirius has nfl, nba and nascar...xm's talk channels are pretty diverse too

Is HD Radio going to start calling themselves BR Radio now? hm?

I just got the XM ExpressEZ for $30 at Best Buy and spent $30 on a card which gave me one month ($12.95) plus
took care of the $15 setup charge (a couple bucks left over)--will go with one of the plans they offer
when I sign up for one, etc. Good so far, easy hookup, lots of programming.

I have a question. Its if this merger happens, it says the monthly cost will go down from what it is now for both Sirius and XM. How is that going to help? Sure it may help get more people in, but I think they will lose money.

In Concord California, its a punishment to listen to KFRC 106.9!! No matter what the cost..I will keep Satelite radio!! The only thing worth listening to at KFRC is "Beatle Brunch" Sunday morning at 9am,,With the legendary John Mack Flanagan! Aside from this theres only 2 other choices XM or Sirius,,I enjoy both,,, Could you imagine traveling across the United States with terrestrial radio? I cant!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill pass on commercials! As far as reception, XM is very strong,, very little fading,, It does the San Francisco Bay Bridge,,no problem!!

Ken, the idea is that you can buy a single sub for say, just music, for $6.99 a month - the idea being that they'll have 4x as many people subscribing, so you don't pay $12.99 for everything. I'd jump in now, as I have to believe that they'll give us subs some kind of a good deal if/when the FCC approves.
