XM Online: Pro And Con

I'm glad MSNBC is now among XM's online offerings. But will someone over at Sirius/XM do something about the pops, clicks and small hiccups on the stream? We're paying extra for it! (And no, it's not my bandwidth.)
And while I'm at it, although I'm a big fan of XM Online, it's about time the time restriction was removed. Even though we're being charged extra for it, an idle player still leads to a disconnect after two hours. I could understand that when it was a free add-on, but we're paying for it. The time restriction needs to be lifted.

Would not pay to stream XM. I have it in the car and would just bring the radio inside. There are lots of free streaming choices too.

I agree, I wont pay for on line streaming. I too have it in the car and the house. When I am at work, there is ample free stuff to stream Sorry Mel, you are getting enough of my cash

There's no need to stream Sirius XM online. You can find 10 Internet stations playing the same format as each of the XM channels.

I had two radios. I just cancelled the one and paid the extra $3 a month for the streaming. So I actually saved money there, and I can take it more places than I could with the second radio.

I live alone. At one time I had two XM and one Sirius subscription. After the merger, the Sirius channels started playing the same music as the XM channels I listened to, so no need to keep them, so I dropped Sirius.

Then I switched to "music only." But my two music only subs cost $19.90, the same as one full sub plus one extra receiver ($12.95 + $6.95).......the same as my 2 "music only" subs, so I was saving nothing! So I dropped the second subscription, and I'm now down to one XM sub. I'm not sure how long I will keep that, as the music is repeating too often. I listen to classical music, and I get so much more variety on internet radio. I do have to admit, I think there is more variety on XM in the last month or two, compared to 4 or 5 months ago.

I'm hoping that the playlist will get even better in the next 3 months when it will be up for renewal again.

Are there actually any third-party XM aps that still work? I used xampd a few years ago, but it stopped working. I tried its successor (can't recall its name), but it didn't work as smoothly for me as xampd, and I wasn't fond of the interface.

You should download a Sirius/XM online client. Those don't have time restrictions.

There's a plug-in for Foobar2000:

There's a standalone gadget for Windows Sidebar:

And one for the Google Desktop:

Thanks, ykw. That foobar2000 plug-in works great. Wish the station list was current, but at least I can enter the newer valid ones. Much appreciated.
