XM-Sirius and Ed Wallace

I caught a few minutes of Ed's Saturday gab fest, and in studio he had a couple of his auto dealer clients on the air with him. The conversation turned toward the XM-Sirius merger news. Both of the car dealer reps present reported that no one ever came in and specifically mentioned getting XM or Sirius as an option to their car audio system.
Ed even mentioned that he never activated Sirius in what he drives (an Acura).

Interesting comments to say the least.

Do You really believe he is going to tout he listens to xm, Or mention his customers have mentioned satellite radio while on a terrestrial station, with an eye towards a better contract? He's a "bidness" man

I can buy Ed's comments, but not those of the dealer reps.

I can totally believe it. How many buyers do you think buy based on which satellite service would be available as standard equipment?

I mean really, do you think you'd buy a (fill in the blank model) JUST because it has XM?

If you're a 'buy american' type, would you buy an "import" just because it has XM or Sirius?

I'm betting most people are like me- they buy based on what kind of car they're looking for (sedan/SUV/etc), then buy based on price, options available at that price, financing deals available, etc etc etc...

I can totally believe that no one these dudes have dealt with showed up at the dealership and specifically mentioned getting XM or sirius...Especially since it's available 'after-market'...

Oh come on. No one seriously thinks that someone walks in to an auto dealership and decides which car to buy based on the sat radio option.
For what it's worth, I asked whether XM was an option in the car I bought. It wasn't about whether I would buy that model or not, it had more to do with whether I'd buy that particular car on the lot or have one ordered.
