XMAS Predictions

Getting close to XMAS season. Who will be the first to flip in both Dayton and Cinci?

No more Lite FM so that means there will be a new XMAS flagship station in DYT. 93.7? Will CC flip Big 1065 to all XMAS similar to what Columbus does with Oldies 933? Would be smart with them already having their best ratings yet, and exposing new listeners to the format they play 10 other months in the year. Although, the signal isn't great in every office, especially downtown. Or will CC just cop out and flip Mix 1077 to XMAS? Will any station do away with their current format to play ALL XMAS and flip January 1?

Cincinnati - Thinking Star 933 then Warm 98 right?

I usually don't have much time to post on here & just have to lurk. But since I have some time, I'll bite :) ...

Cincinnati - What you said. Star first (probably around 11/7-ish), then Warm about a week later. Radio One might give another run to urban-leaning Christmas on 100.3 like they did last year, but with the modest ratings it got & no pending format flip this time, they probably won't see the need to.

Dayton - This one's more intriguing with no mainstream AC in the market this year. The general unwritten rule is that you've gotta put Christmas on a big signal, so 107.7 seems like the most obvious choice. (93.7 will probably also flip their music to inspirational Christmas around 11/28 as they normally do, but won't break the talk & teaching part of their schedule for it until Christmas Eve.)

With 107.7 being a Hot AC, though, the flip may come closer to Thanksgiving. Might someone new enter the Christmas fray & try to get the jump on CC (92.9 perhaps)?

I could also see CC possibly flipping 94.5 to a Country-leaning Christmas, similar to what Wilks did for a couple years on 95.5 in Columbus -- it would keep a form of Christmas on 94.5 & bring some attention to that signal's Country format. If CC did that, though (& it's a big if), it wouldn't be their main Christmas signal.

Happy ho ho in Dayton

So when did CC Dayton start pouring the ho ho spirits into the Mixer?

Must have been today, they had a poll on their website that ran until yesterday asking people when they should go all-Christmas. I'm sure regardless of what the poll said, they were flipping today anyway.

Xmas music

Cincinnati - Star is the first one
Dayton - Mix 1077 is who decided to make the flip.

Cincinnati will have Warm flip soon... Dayton, I think Mix will be the only one for awhile before WROU and maybe 93.7
