What's the deal with the guy on middays at 88.5? And why are he and the traffic girl allowed to chit-chat about nothing with no apparent limit, essentially doing their own show? JFA ...
I realize I misspoke about "midday" shift, it's actually afternoon drive, like 3 to 6. (My radio lingo is a little stale these days.) The real point is how they just chat on and on like they're doing their own show that has nothing to do with traffic. Seems like they're dating or something.
It really wouldn't be so bad if they actually had some sort of rapport. But Dan and the traffic gal start talking and it's the most boring banter ever. I actually like when there are real people talking on the air. Yes, even on a music show. But when the pregnant pauses become tedious, it's time to move on.
Paging Mary Cantell! There was a kooky lady who did her job well and knew how to talk. Miss you Mary.
OMG, the pregnant pauses! ("OMG" -- that's how you know I'm gay!)
Yeah, "pregnant" pauses, as in: "You got me pregnant, now you'll talk with me on the air for as long as I want, even if there's nothing left to say between the two of us."
To be clear, nothing was meant to insinuate that there is anything going on between DR and the traffic lady... except boring banter.
Having said that, I've taken part in boring banter on stations next to nobody hears... so, what do I know?
