Y-100 under Dan Mason and Dave Denver

Your last post sounds pretty good...except you won;t let go of the saving money thing. Why would Z100 pay the Zoo to bust their butt for Miami. Let it go. I'm sure Miami is paying for them. Why not. They , including Froggy, are great. This isn't a bunch of yokels from Alabama. As far as being local, we had a local show here. An incredibly local show. What good did that do?

I have to side with JBrasco on this... it was a cost-cutting move. It's much less expensive to import a morning show from another market. Forget the costs of paying an already-existing morning show (which, obviously, they're doing... you're right about that). What would cost more is going starting a search for a completely new, live and local morning show. Searching for people to fill an empty seat isn't cheap, and that on top of what it would cost to pay that person or persons once hired would be more expensive than what they're doing now. On top of that, the station would be lacking a solid morning show of any kind during that search, which would hurt in both ratings and ad sales. Paying to syndicate an already-existing morning show (with a quick turnaround in terms of a start date) with the only additional costs being those of an ISDN line and a program to sync logs (which isn't at all expensive) is significantly less expensive. I believe that's all JBrasco is trying to say.

That aside, I'm hoping to listen in to the new, live Y Morning Zoo this morning. I'm excited! To hear such good reviews now that the pre-recorded stuff has been put to rest is refreshing, and I for one hope this is as successful as the great Y-100 morning shows of the past have been. Sure, I've had my doubts... but I've always said Miami is New York South (for more reasons than one), and I think the show certainly stands a chance.

Much less so than was the case 20, 30, or 40 years ago.

To refresh your memory, what are the top-ranking stations in the market?
