Y-101 is Bloody Awful!

Since the death of JACK FM I have been listening to Y-101 just for kicks and that station is as dull as a butter knife. Whoever is programming this mess is stuck in some kind of time warp and there is nothing here relevent to radio in 2009! Why JACK FM was dumped in favor of the new KMJ FM and not "Y" will remain a major mystery. Anyone who has spent more than 10 minutes in the industry can crack an Arbitron and see betwen the 2 stations who the winner is, or was. I have just learned that the general sales manager of JACK FM (who is married to KMJ's Ray Appleton) was the driving force behind the JACK FM. According to one the the former JACK FM sales people she will would spend countless hours at the station involved, hands on, in every aspect of the JACK operation. Promotion, programming, revenues, everything! When the format was yanked she declared war at the corner of Palm and Shaw. This same person is also the GSM of Y-101 and let's hope she is cut loose to give that dung heap of music an edge and a place in the 21st century. Understand, I was not real big JACK fan. It was just different and fun! Let's hope the owners realize their blunder and bring JACK BACK and keep "Y" in the dark ages where it belongs. Real dark. Like off the air dark. There is no doubt the franchise will be picked by Clear Channel of some entity of that smack. We will not be JACKLESS for long. The question is why did it have disappear in the first place?
 
msradiovet, I Disagree. Talk radio is where it's at. I have an I-Pod. Don't need jack.

I needed Savage and two more hours of Chris Daniel when I visit Fresno and whoallah! My wish is granted.
 
I agree with radiovet KMJ-FM should have been at 101.1 not jack.The Y sucks royally and should be changed.JACK did have a variety format that was different than the typical CLASSIC ROCK/HITS stations it had modern 80s and 90s ,its was sort of like a TRIPLE A staion.

I like KMJ FM...Have no problem there. I just take issue with the frequency they chose to abort to make it happen. Sorry if I did not make that clear.
 
I suspect they flipped the Jack station due to it's signal strength as compared to Y101. This is supposed to be the sister station to KMJ AM with the same platforms. News, Ag, and politics. A large signal makes a better match up than with the Y101 stick. No argument that Y needs some help on the programming side.
 
I think PEAK should try a triple A format like KFOG 104.5 in SF, this way they can bring back some of the JACK format instead of there mixed up format they have now. there trying to compete with KSOF and KALZ and its not working.Wasn't JACKs numbers better than Ys anyway.
 
I know what would help Y-101 they should hire Athena back.
 
What 101.1 should do to pull that station out of the gutter is make it a TRUE TOP 40 with the name like AMP 101.1 or NOW 101.1.
 
Nevermind my last post it cant happened it would end up being 90 percent HIP-HOP like B95, Q97, KWPR 106.3, and 104.7.
 
PEAK SHOULD BEING BACK JACK-FM TO 101.1 forget about the top 40 idea.
 
After turning to KZJK for my Jack fix, Fresno's Jack was pretty bad. Nothing is as bad as Y-101 though.

Off topic, is anyone getting tired of Appleton talking about his return to "FM". Seriously, this isn't KFIG Ray....this is AM on FM. You're not interviewing Supertramp and having them use the "S" word live...and wondering what the hell the FCC is gonna do. Ray, You're on tape talking to right wingers. It's about as far from "FM" as one can be.

I disagree!!!!!!!!! Most people got sick of me around 1983! I think I started getting sick of me early last year.
 
I disagree. Everyone knows Ray Appleton is a legend. He's amazing. He's fantastic. He's cooler than Elvis and better looking than Brad Pitt. I just love him. Ray, call me ASAP!

Brad Pitt? Oh Please. So I had some plastic surgery a few years back because I felt like it. I guess, Dr. Truong, the surgeon is better than anybody that he was...or is. Beats looking like Woddy Allen anyway. And Elvis? Are you high?
 
As Churchillis1's personal physician, I can attest to the that he is, in fact, high. I may have over-prescribed.
