Y-102 Playlist

Is it just me, or has anyone noticed, that Y-102 has stepped up there playlist and is playing more deeper cuts?
 
Can't say I've noticed a change. But, having said that, it seems to me that for quite some time now you could always count on hearing something off the beaten path every couple of hours. Last Friday morning they did the morning show by request. There just are no other stations within a hundred miles that would play the Zombies, Deep Purple, James Brown, both Elvis' (Presley and Costello), the Stones, Bangles, Gordon Lightfoot and I can't recall who else. Could they do better? Well, nothing's perfect. And they are better than MGK and the Hawk. Not to mention good ol' what's his name. FRED? FRITZ? FRANK?
 
Y102 better than MGK? HA!!

YSP and ZZO are even better than y102.
 
Yep. Better than 'MGK. Are you really still thrilled to hear 'It's Still Rock and Roll To Me', 'Another Brick In The Wall', 'In The Air Tonight' and ch-ch-ch-'Changes' umpteen thousand times a week?

Matter of fact, WPAZ sounds better today than 'MGK

...as opposed to some random Dream Theater song, the same tired Daughtry tunes, the jocks talking about how awesome they are and then some no hit wonder from 1978...

There's a difference in a station 'mixing it up' to keep things from going stale...and I admit - WMGK is a standard classic rock repeat-fest. So was FRANK. But Y-102 sounds like a train wreck. It's only for their lack of any competiton that they can get away with it. Any other market and these boards would be filled with 'Y102 - WTF???' threads...

Y-102 has to be broad- ever try being the only station. It's a lot harder than you think. Everyone dreams of no competition but Y102 has handled all comers. Say what you want but you can't beat them. As far as Philly radio very boring.

Radio geeks like us can over-analyze Y-102 to death about their lack of competition, too much competition, where they're located and how the market reacts to them, ad nauseum. Ask a regular Joe in Berks what he thinks about Y-102 and the answer would most likely be something along the lines of 'Y-102 sucks'....It's been mentioned before on this board: Y-102 could play non stop buffalo farts over the air and get ratings because Berks County either doesn't know any better or doesn't care enough to pay attention to Al Burke's musical whims...

"WELCOME TO THE ALL NEW, Y-10pffft!!! pffft pffft pffft!!! Berks counties number one PFFFT Station ;D yes that would be funny.
 
ga Y-102 is off the air as we speak... Straight static... Who knows how long... Hopefully for awhile, but I'm sure it'll be back before too long
