Re: Agree to Disagree...

Thank you very much, madam, indeed that is the point.

But another point has been raised here. Just because a GM, PD or jock refuses to put a sticker on their car, or feels that buttons are "1970-ish" doesn't mean every listener in town thinks the same. They may love stickers and have no use for coffee mugs. The first rule of radio is to find out what your listeners really want, and rarely do you find that in a research study. You find it out on the streets. The second rule of radio is to put personal tastes and feelings aside and cater to those wants.

What your station hands out should tie in with your format in some way. If you live and die on at-work listening, give out mouse pads, paper clip holders, or anything else a listener could use on a desk. If you're a screaming rocker, give out beer can Huggies. But at all the stations I've worked at, from the Rocky Mountains to the east coast, I've never, ever seen a listener turn down a free shirt. and that includes the upper demos. In fact, I believe it's incredibly important to make sure to give t-shirts to guys in the upper demos, because we really don't want to see any of them bare-chested.

I don't know about that, but maybe he'd let us go "Gospel-Cruisin'" in his "All Hit Gospel Cruiser"...possibly handing out bibles.

Sorry, but after all these years, I still have nightmares of driving that frappin' ZOU truck around.

heeheeheehee

Actually, I have heard his station a few times. It seems to be very well entrenched as THE community station. The mayor comes on and chats every few days...I'll bet he makes a dime or two.
