Y102.5 PD position

Hey kids..I'm interested in the Y102.5 PD gig.

I'm looking for all thoughts on the station/operation, both good and bad..pull no punches.

I appreciate your thoughts!

The biggest gripe I have with Y102 is that the morning show is not live. I like the music mix even though like most of CC's Lite ac stations, it is voice tracked. If you could get away from that crap it would even be better.

Hey dude, just a thought and no offense, but you might engender a bit more "good old boy" radio camaraderie amongst your peers if you act more "pal"-like (and "peer"-like, now that I think about it) instead of adopting the condescending tone of a guardian addressing children...i.e. "Hey kids...". Lhsh has a valid point regarding Y102.5, but I'm familiar with his posts, his mindset regarding radio and his opinions. I see that you've been posting similar "job-vetting" Radio-info posts since at least January, seldom on the South Carolina board. Another piece of unsolicited advice? Most employees don't really appreciate interlopers, especially those who don't familiarize themselves with the area to begin with. You might want to do a little research on your own before going "fishing" on Radio-Info.

I don't need to remind you of the current economic situation and its cousin, the job situation, so, it's a good bet that anyone that knows the operation is either going to angle for the position himself/herself or understand that anyone asking about the position is a potential boss. In the former scenario, they aren't going to be helpful because they want the position, and in the latter scenario, they aren't going to be helpful to anyone that appears to be a condescending know-it-all...unless they're suck ups. And you don't want to lead a building of suck ups, do you?

Again, I'm not trying to be a "buzz-kill" and I'm sure you're a great guy. I mean, if you really did give Chase Murphy his start(as you stated in one of your previous posts), that counts for something because, as far as I know of him, he's a cool guy that knows his shit and is good with his people. I've just never known a PD that got his job because he led with a post on Radio-info on a board he/she seldom posts on and starts his/her post with "Hey kids...". Reminds me of something Bozo or Mr. Knozit would say.

But, good luck.

It sounds like to me that he is following the Clear Channel way of doing thigns and if so, then he will fit in there just fine, and BTW thanks for the compliemtns.

No thanks necessary, man. You know what time of day it is.

You said everything right. Thank you.

Again, no thanks necessary, bro. I know how people "inside the building" feel when someone dashes in and and announces, "Hey I'm coming to your town to program your station probably...so tell me everything good and/or bad about the operation." My experience has been that potential PDs or OMs that do that are trying to gain some "insider" info so they can curry favor and sound somewhat knowledgable with whomever is responsible for filling the position. Then (proving no good deed goes unpunished), if they are hired, they remember what you said and use it against you somehow at a later date, time and circumstance of their choosing.

I wish the guy well, but there are other, more productive ways to introduce yourself to potential employees and pilfer market info than in this instance.

Just sayin'.

I definitely agree and we can definitely blame Clear Channel for messing with a really good sounding oldies station that had really godo announcers as well.
