Y107 Alum Marc Chase to Tribune

If you remember some of the stuff he did on air at Y107 in the "early days", this extremely odd press release announcing his new position under Sam Zell at Tribune should come as no surprise. I think he wrote it himself.

http://www.tribune.com/pressroom/releases/2008/04072008.html

If memory serves me right (it must have been 20 or so years ago) and I am not giving Marc credit for someone else's bit, I recall a particular afternoon where he got in a shouting match with someone from the FCC involving some sort of obscenity that today we would not even bat an eye at. The FCC guy (I am assuming this was completely fake but funny anyway) said if he said the word again, they were going off the air for 15 minutes. He did and the station went to silence for the 15 minutes.

Could it be true? Are Randy Michaels and Marc Chase setting out to SAVE this industry?

Look out everyone! This is exciting news.

i have inside info that they may wind up with cc...but as always i consider the source..so many rumors..so little time

Ahh, ahh, eek, eek, tookie, tookie... (SFX laser zaps, jock shout) Marc Chase (more SFX laser zaps)...five o'clock whistle party on the New Wah 107...(cue "Weekend" by Wet Willie)...repeat every Friday at 5:00 over the next four years.

He was the first PD to be featured twice in one year in a column Billboard Magazine used to have called PD of the Week - once at Y-107 (the outrageous FM), and the following time after he helped launch Power 93 the Power Pig in Tampa (WFLZ).

And don't forget "Eat My Shorts".

Add McFadden & Whitehead "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now", Bell & James "Livin' It Up", "Thank God It's Friday" by Love & Kisses (still played by Phil Valentine on his show) and there you have the Five O'Clock Whistle on the Outrageous FM the New Whauh 107. Remember Y-107 was "new" for about five years.
