Yahoo Sports on 1560 - Houston?

Here in Southern Indiana last week, when the local daytimer on 1560 signed off at 9:15 p.m., I was expecting to hear WQEW boom in from New York, NY. Instead, I heard a fairly loud and clear Yahoo Sports affiliate and some localized promos that make me pretty darn sure it was KGOW from Houston, TX. It then disappeared completely about one minute later and made way for WQEW. A friend of mine raised a good point, though. If it was KGOW, why would the station have changed pattern and power at my local sunset, since he and I assume Houston's sunset would come quite a bit later. Any theories on this?
 
Yes, it was KGOW that you heard (the flagship for Yahoo Sports, incidentally) but from the times you noted it looks like they might have switched to the night pattern a little early.

FCC records for the station indicate that the switch would be happening at 8:30 CDT this month. Such information can be found by doing an AM Query for a particular station at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/am-query-broadcast-station-search then clicking on the time zone that appears on the line for "Approximate Sunrise & Sunset Times."
