Yankees Announcer John Sterling Dead at 87

This was all over my feed this morning. I know he had a heart attack recently. As a Yankee fan this is devastating to hear. Yes he had a tendency to drive the listener nuts but his style was unmatched and will be missed.

Damn, that's horrible news. I loved his calls, even as a Red Sox fan. I was hoping that he'd join Suzyn occasionally for a few innings, like Joe Castiglione is doing now on Red Sox radio, even in retirement.

John was with us through numerous World Series wins as well. An amazing announcer, and may he RIP. Say hi to Vin Scully for us in Heaven.

Like him or not, they guy was a legend. One heck of a career. There was something comforting in listening to him call a Yankee game. Rest in peace.
