Yankees Baseball on the air in Brattleboro, VT?

Hey all! Just a quick question for ya:

When did Yankee ball games start airing in Brattleboro, VT? I believe they're on 1450 AM?

Sure, the Yankees aren't unheard of in northern New England. I'm pretty certain a station in the Portsmouth, NH market aired them in the past.

OK, but in fairness, I was last up there (Vermont) on March 18th and heard no mention of them at that time. Since 1450 AM airs the Yankees, does that mean that 1490 AM (the only other AM with a decent signal in Brattleboro's north end) carries the Red Sox?

'KVT has actually had the 'Sox for awhile....1490(KVT) is actually a "left" sounding talk station, out of nowhere the 'SOX come on....it's actually strange programming....granted Brattleboro is a little (alot) to the "left" anyways...but politics is divisive....sports is inclusive...

TSA(1450) is all sports(ESPN), and they are the local sports (Colonels) station as well...it's actually quite a cool little station...in addition to the Yankees, they carry the ESPN games of the week, the NBA, the NFL, and the NCAA Tournament....

from what I am to understand, the previous ownership(TSA) never re-upped with the 'Sox (7-8 years ago), so the 'Sox go out win the series(2004), and now they're "hot" again...smart move by TSA to grab the Yankees, name the team 'Sox fans are second most interested in...plus, they're a bunch of Yankees fans out there....

It was longer ago than that...I was a board op for Sox games at KVT in the summer of '96, and the Sox have been on 1490 ever since. I think it was late '80s/early '90s when TSA last had the Sox. Maybe around the time TSA moved from Putney Road out to West B.?

I always thought 1450 had a great set of calls to go with the Boston team. By that I mean...

W here

A re!

Oh, well.

So WKVT (AM) can advertise "we play left field"...
Several of the team's bigwigs are to the left politically as it turns out; BostonDirtDogs.com had a pic
(Nov 2004) of Epstein, Henry, and Werner on the campaign trail with John Kerry (who threw out the
first pitch at Fenway the night before the DNC that year). Some team members, like Mike Timlin
and Curt Schilling, have expressed more conservative views (Schill campaigned for W in '04 and
said "Everybody go out and vote, and vote Bush" on Good Morning America; later he expressed interest
in John McCain--but also said Obama was interesting)...

Some on the left who wouldn't stand Howie Carr would tune in when his show ends on WRKO to hear
the Sox.
Sports pre-emptions do bug a lot of political talk fans (for that reason, WRKO bumps weekday afternoon
Sox games to WEEI so fans can still hear Rush and Howie)
