Yarr! A Pirate Be Broadcastin' on 88.9 FM

Friday, the frequency 88.9 MHz was apparently being used for announcing the Bayfair
Powerboat Races at Mission Bay. It was not known whether the organization had legally
obtained the right to broadcast on 88.9 MHz at a high wattage power, high enough
to reach Serra Mesa and Claremont Mesa.

During the 2pm hour Thursday, it was broadcasting
an unpredictable mix of music, anything from pop to country to jazz to whatever.
 
Well it could be bigger than 100mw.

I'm suprized to hear that someone has the fortitude to broadcast in the FCC's front doorstep. Being that it's common knowledge to the licensed stations that the FCC has EB compliance engineers in San Diego.
 
Sept 19th was "National Talk Like a Pirate Day". I hope they were complying with this minor rule.

I am legal on my part 15 and was unable to muster up an arrrr....
