Big deal. He's failed at every slot and spot in the N. California airwaves.
He's changed his show within his show a few times. Savage rips him up in afternoons, and when delayed in evenings...it's still disapointing. Both in San Fran. & Sacramento.

If they are keeping him in part of afternoon drive, I honestly don't think that bodes well for this station.

And, I don't even mind his show. I think it can be ammusing in 30 minute segments. Just not for several hours.

He's fallin' off the FM dial (remember talk 95.7) he's fallin' at 650 AM, what's wrong with that frequency? And he's fallin (I almost forgot this one) at the left end of the dial. KSFO 560. .3 rating. And there's 93.7 Sacramento FMer. It ain't worth mentioning others.

No I don't actually as I don't live in your market, I wasn't aware of that one

If he flies or dies in SF is of no real consequence to me (or him most likely), like I said, I'm just curious to see what happens, that's all

I fully agree! They need live & local hosts. KGO will cream this new station, like they've done for 26 years.

I like Tom and Darian. But what I can't understand is why FREE 106.9 and it's on-air talent are being compared to KGO and other AM stations/hosts. WCKG, WJFK and the old WNEW are FM Talk stations which are way different from an AM station. You got Steve Dahl, Don and Mike which is light hearted, fun talk. Stuff that's silly and makes you think and laugh. Hard hitting issues are presented in a much softer way. You don't have Michael Savage screaming at you. I think that most of you have been in radio for so long that you can't tell AM from FM. This is just my thought. You may now bash away at my post.

106.9 isn't targeted to the 45-death crowd listening to Gene Burns! Enough already.

I think why some people are comparing the two stations is because Ronn Owens is so good at going between political talk to TV talk to local stuff, etc. and that is kind of what 106.9 is claiming they are going to do.

If anything, I think 106.9 might steal KNBR's listeners.

If O'Toole or London come anywhere close to Don & Mike's success in DC/Baltimore, they should consider that a HUGE success. Realistically, they just need to be strong on the 24+ males to be successful.

I'm a big fan of Don & Mike, and I'm surprised that Infinity didn't push them on 106.9 Free. Admittedly, they're an acquired taste, but once you're hooked it's tough not to tune in.

After they were shuffled off of afternoons on KYCY/1550, I simply tuned over to KHTK/1140 from Sacramento and I've been listening in there ever since -- as have many others from the Eastbay, judging from the local phone calls D&M get.

If London fails (odds: good) D&M would be a great fallback show from noon to 4 p.m.

Historically, other than DC/Baltimore, the syndicated Don & Mike do well in the Sacramento's and Wichita's of the world, not the Top 4.

I don't think that they are the type of show that KIFR wants to build around, especially if they want local hosts. (And, yes, I have heard Don complain that they have not been added to any of these new FreeFM stations.)

I can see them doing better on tape delay than Leykis, but I am guessing Leykis will be out here a lot trying to promote himself and the station, so even if those shows were equal going in, I can see that being the tie breaker.

In 12+ perhaps. And in 45-death. And in women 35-64. But FreeFM could care less.
