I think KIFR and Timmy were pulling your leg. KOIT never changes anything. And they're very successful, so why should they? Even the DJs rarely change...and that's usually when they retire.

I wanted to be the first, since every year when KOIT or any station goes all Christmas. The rumors start flying about format changes. I thoght I'd get it outta the way already!

CLASSIC HITS anyone.
With the KFRC calls relocating to 96.5 ;)
As with others, Just pulling everyone's leg. Nearly ALL AC Radio Stations go ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC this time of year, however if KYLD-94.9, KDFC-1.2.1, KFOG-104.5 or KSAN-107.7 were to change to ALL CHRISTMAS MUSIC today, them of course they would be set to change to a new format after Christmas.

Its a little bit late this year
Yeah, they could have gone on Halloween like KOOL-FM in Phoenix. YUCK!

Nah, KOIT went All Halloween this year and it pushed back the start of Christmas music.

Let's see if I remember it correctly:

  • "Monster Mash" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett.
  • "Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead" by The Fifth Estate.
  • "Snoopy vs. The Red Baron" by The Royal Guardsmen (mentions "The Great Pumpkin").

...Yeah, that's all I got. I'm out.

For those of you who can't survive until December 26th for your "Light Rock" fix, KOIT has moved their regular format to HD2, knocking the Oldies format off the air for now. It features the nearest thing I've seen so far to commercials on HD2 - each hour is "brought to you by" a sponsor, though the actual "commercials" are only a few seconds long...kind of like those mini-commercials on KQED for businesses that donate.

So you're saying we lost another oldies station?

That is true since most people tune in for the gold at KOIT.

Curious when KBAY will start the the early Christmas in your face in the Southbay.

Happy Holidays!

According to KBAY's website:
http://www.kbay.com/

they will start their Christmas on Wednesday afternoon, the 26th.

Merry Christmas! (I like this term compared to "Happy Holidays" ;D.... but that's another topic itself....)
