YES 94.5 Myrtle Beach

It looks like Myrtle Beach got a new station. Sounds like AC but oldies. The slogan is "a fresh new blend". I thought it would be like fresh. Like Fresh 102.7 in New York City. But its not at all its a mix of classic hits with some new current soft AC hits.

So why did they stop the Easy 105.9 and Easy 94.5? anyone know?

Man and I thought that somebody had this crazy idea to try dance in MYB again... I will have to listen to them if they stream... I checked last night and it was still the stream coming from 105.9 playing Barry's "I Write The Song"!!! CC1

One interesting note: during local cable TV "avails", the spot is still running identifying both stations as EASY. Saw it last night while flipping through the dial (figuratively, of course) and landed on CNN.

What is their format??? It looks like a funky soft AC without the Standards... Looking at their website it is nothing like Fresh NY, but looks kinda like what Sunny in Philly was before they started trying to morph it into Jammin' Oldies version 2.0... CC1

I would say this might be a case where high ratings does not equal good revenue. Remember the ratings matter less than what a station bills. Can't find good paying advertisers then your revenue sucks.

Very true. I remember at Power 98 (WBPR) in Myrtle Beach, we were number one in both Birch and Arbitron during the station's very first full survey period, but never had no more than a dozen clients on the station at once in a two year period, then again, just the year before we signed Power on, I can recall 5 MINUTE stopsets CRAMMED full of spots on Sunny 106.5 when we signed it on and we had NO ratings there at all the first year and a half.

Okay, it is just WYEZ. But what I'm afraid of is that people will like it. This always happens with "good music".

The good news is that no one does AC like this any more. This is a "need" in every market but no one but standards and easy listening stations will play Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond. Diana Krall?

And this station doesn't have a good signal. I predict it will fall flat.

My wife and I were in Myrtle Beach last week. She thought Easy 105.9 was boring and liked a couple of songs on Yes 94.5. We flipped back and forth between 104.9 BOB-FM and 900 WNMB.

;D Hey, johnny! Thanks for tuning in WNMB. I hope our little amplitude modulation station had some songs and sounds you liked. I was in Hershey last week for the AACA car show and missed several visitors who came by the station. I hope you will stop and visit with us next trip!

It sounds like a regular soft AC to me. Nothing that even suggested standards when I listened, except for maybe one Dionne Warwick song.

"Listen to Your Heart" by Roxette, "The Heat Is On" by Glenn Frey, and "Suddenly I See" by K. T. Tunstall-- not songs that even suggest they want their old audience.

I was hoping Kelli Dixon could be on this station. I had to put up with her annoying voice after all. It could be worse--look who they've got on 94.5.

And those annoying restaurant sound effects after every break. And those station IDs.

I actually sent a snail mail addressed to "No 94.5."

I think Easy is just about perfect, musically. I wish they would play more instrumentals. I heard one the whole time I was in range, and that was "A Walk in the Black Forest" by Horst Jankowski.

They were off the air for about 30 minutes when I was going home, and with nothing in particular to listen to instead, I just turned the radio off.

I stopped in Marion. I just have to walk around that pretty little town when I go through. When I got back in the car Easy was back.
