Yes.com Technical Difficulties??

J

This afternoon (November 18th), I have been using Yes.com to track radio station playlists to determine those that have gone all-Christmas.

But after 5 P.M. EST, I noticed that on the stations I checked on, Yes.com did not list songs played.

At this writing (6 P.M. EST), many stations are listed as "No songs detected for this hour", which is usually used when a station is not playing music.

Has anyone else encountered difficulties in using Yes.com over the last hour or so??

Update, 6:20 P.M. EST: The main page of Yes.com, which normally displays numerous song titles over a map of the United States, is now displaying "No Songs Detected" in red letters, so I suspect the entire website is down.
Edited by Joseph_Gallant on 11/18/05 11:18 PM.

Isn't it obvious? They deliberately shut down to thwart your doing that!

Wouldn't be the first time Yes.com stopped tracking for hours at a time. You (as usual) are making a mountain out of a molehill.

Or is this just an excuse to keep growing that post total with irrelevant posts?
______________

This was the first time I had ever used Yes.com and was unable to get playlist information out of it.

Their system could be temporarily <blink>intermittent</blink>...

When MTV has technical difficulties, they put the following on the screen:

A picture of someone with a sad face on their T-Shirt with "Sh*t Happens" next to it.

Sh*t happens.

Yes is back online as of the 10PM hour.
______________

Which proves? Nothing.

I have had dozens of experiences where Yes.com stopped tracking for hours at a time.
______________

AND you didnt feel it was necessary to post those experiences on a website. I applaud you!

they were probably doing some work on the system
I have noticed on some stations it shows the actual station name now, WSKZ now shows as KZ-106, I wonder if the downtime has anything to do with that
______________

From my own experience they are almost always experiencing technical problems. They seem to stop reporting song info after 10:30 PM local time. They miss report or don’t report at all some of the songs. In short I don’t find them reliable enough to trust on a regular basis. Their methodology for obtaining the song information seems flawed to me. If they could find a way to grab that information from stations using RDS to display the song info that might resolve some of these problems.
