Yes Foolin'

OK judging from one thread post I just saw somebody has already started but let's just get it all out, folks. What's today's date? Then you know what it's time for.

--WBZ changes to Traffic and Weather Radio with news just a few times per hour

--Entercom buys 92.9 from Greater to simulcast WRKO

--Touch 106.1 owner Charles Clemons leading in polls for mayor despite having just about nothing
in campaign funds.

--Evolution 101.7 goes all Christmas. It was amazing to find some many techno-dance songs about the holiday. Clear Channel expects to keep this going to New Year's 2013/14.

--Greater flips WROR to Fox Sports, Entercom flips 107.3 to ESPN Deportes, and CBS flips
104.1 to a simulcast of NESN. "We think Boston can handle 7 sports stations," says one
broadcasting bigwig.

--Due to declining ratings, WJMN flips to a simulcast of WJIB, in a historic deal between Clear
Channel and Bob Bittner. "Easy as the breeze, 740 and 94.5"

--Capitalizing on a new trend, WKLB flips to a format of country songs with rapping (like
the rapping cowboy that's associated with Big and Rich, and the old hit Convoy by CW McCall).
This is known as C(ountry)-RAP, or C-RAP.

--Howie Carr finally stops complaining about the Marconi-made equipment at RKO. When his contract ends he jumps to WGBH, as the station has to add conservative talk under the
revived Fairness Doctrine.

Some would argue that WBZ has already started this format :)

With WXKS-FM, WJMN, WBQT, WODS all going after the same pack of teenagers, I am waiting for which one finally says "Oh <bleep> this...put on some Sinatra"

April Fools radio hoaxes: Boston soul station WILD "changed their format to country" at least for the morning. Opie and Anthony spread a rumor that Boston Mayor Tom Menino was killed in a car accident in Florida. (Wiki.): "The duo was fired in April 1998 from WAAF for an April Fool's Day prank involving Mayor Thomas Menino. Opie and Anthony told their listeners that the Mayor had been killed in a car accident while transporting a young female Haitian prostitute. Many believed the story, leading Menino to file a complaint with the FCC, as the FCC prohibits the broadcast of knowingly false information if it causes public harm."

People in droves begin to notice that Matty's comedy 1200 is no longer.

Matty's Comedy is alive and well on KissHD 2

Another one: HD radio listenership in Boston grows twofold as people don’t want to miss Matty’s comedy.

Now here's a great idea!
WBZ goes all talk with news every 30 minutes 24 hours a day and traffic and weather together on the 5s.

I know it's a different market, but I think one year (1998, I think), I think it was WSNE, they announced that they were draining narragansett bay, and you could hear the sounds of pumps and everything. People heard about it and people took time off from work and they even let kids out of school to witness it!

Sounds like Joseph Gallant's LEGIT format/ownership change predictions! LOL
