I saw where some guy from Wolf 93.1 garnered top honors, in the words of Dana Carvey's Church Lady, isn't that special!
But what I found more telling is that Josh Neas from WQFS placed 2nd, and it's not like he went into overdrive promoting it, nor did he attempt to put together a ballot box stuffing campaign. This just proves once again how much 'commercial' radio has burned out their audience.
Sure lots more ears are tuned into the commerical outlets compared to the college stations, but there is ZERO passion in the audience anymore. This is because all efforts have been made by this industry to take the personality out of radio, but like many have said on this board alone, personality is what makes the difference between just listening to songs and being engaged and entertained. Why do you think talk radio has taken off like it has in the past 20yrs, because it is the only genre left that allows for personality.
In a nutshell this is what happens to industries that put their faith in consultants and suspect market reseach. So much effort has been made to avoid tune outs that no one is really tuned in anymore.
