Yet Another Afternoon Drive Syndicated Show

The world apparently clamors for syndicated afternoon drive talk shows, as yet another one enters the fray.

WWTN/Nashville ("SuperTalk 99.7 WTN") midday host Phil Valentine, a market veteran, moves his show to afternoon drive as parent Cumulus Media readies him for syndication in April, according to AllAccess' report this afternoon. The new time slot is reportedly 3-7 PM (CT).

Valentine got his "name" in the market as a host on competitor WLAC/1510. WWTN is also the flagship station for syndicated folksy money host Dave Ramsey.

According to WWTN's website schedule, Valentine now airs 4-7 PM on their station, and Ramsey has been moved back to 1-4 PM (he was on 2-5 PM CT).

Just not sure where the idea comes from that there are an unlimited number of radio stations to clear syndicated talkers on. Everybody doesn't have to be syndicated!

Have heard Valentine fill in for Sean Hannity, and yesterday he was filling
in for Jerry Doyle (a small AM station up north of Boston, WNSH/Beverly MA,
just flipped to talk, and he was on).
______________

Don't get me wrong. I don't know Phil Valentine, I've never met the man. I just don't think he's much of a talk host (from what I've seen of the ratings, neither does the city of Nashville).

Both Joey Reynolds and Mike Gallagher said it: to succeed as a talk host, you need two things: #1) talent and #2) a friend with deep pockets. #1 is optional...

Well, WTN is the #1 talk station, and Valentine was for some time replayed overnight; he still is from 3-4am. Perhaps not significant, but I don't know how G. Gordon Liddy is bringing in big ratings there. Although Ramsey surely is.

Intesting seeing that Mike Gallagher doesn't have #1 and Joey Reynolds doesn't have any friends with radios anymore (unlike Mike, he did at one time).
