YET ANOTHER ANITQUE/PAWN SHOP CLONE TYPE SHOW (ISN'T THAT ABOUT 10 NOW)

Looks like we're getting closer and closer to an all antique/pawn/junk pickers network. Could that be a possible OWN replacement (should it fail)?

TLC has announced a new series called WHAT THE SELL?!

here is the scoop from deadline.com

EXCLUSIVE: A new unscripted show about a woman named Kate and her family is coming to TLC. The network of Jon and Kate Plus 8 has picked up What the Sell?!, a reality series about a large antique store just outside Chicago, Illinois run by a three-generation appraising team: Kate, the daughter, Judy, her mother, and Gloria, her grandmother. TLC has picked up 14 episodes of the show, which will premiere on March 29. "Viewers will get an inside look at dealing in antiques through the unique perspective of this multi-generational family," TLC's SVP production and development Howard Lee said.

What the Sell?! started off as a pilot, which TLC aired in November to solid ratings - it drew 1.9 million viewers. The series is executive produced by Brent Montgomery and Colby Gaines, with Courtney Montgomery co-executive producing. Antique appraisal has been an evergreen unscripted genre with staple Antiques Roadshow.

The pilot aired under the title "Pawn Queens", no doubt to cash in on other pawn shows with suggestive titles such as "Pawn Stars" and "Hardcore Pawn".

Being a fan of the last two shows, I watched the pilots on TLC when they first aired -- it practically bored me to sleep. Suburban Chicago isn't as vibrant as Vegas or depressive as Detroit; and the area is well-to-do, as compared to the need for gambling money on "Pawn Stars" and the need for money to live on "Hardcore Pawn".

Apparently "What the Sell" and "Pawn Queens" are two different shows. And both have been picked up by TLC:

TLC has announced that it has picked up PAWN QUEENS as a series, set to premiere Thursday, May 5 at 10pm ET/PT.

The network has ordered 8 half-hour episodes. The premiere episode of PAWN QUEENS achieved an average number of 1.2 million P2+ viewers.

Located right outside Chicago, businesswomen Minda and Nikki run the only pawn shop that caters to women.

Then there is that new Charlie Sheen hocking show - "Tiger Spawn." ;D
