I was listening to the Doghouse this morning and they mentioned they have a gig in NY (most likely the Free FM lanching in NY after Howards departure)

Seeing the East Coast is somewhat different than West Coast does anyone think they will last?? Also Is this another temp position to launch that station

Also what shift will they be doing seeing that mornings are already taken.

Well congrats to them. landing another Gig and also moving up from a #4 (I think) market to a #1 Market.

If I hear them kiss Ken Kohl's but on the air one more time, I'm going to puke.
______________

Go! go to the number 1 market..PUH-LEEEZE! So, all these crappy threads can
go to the NY board instead of here! Enjoy your ballbusting 3.2 rating! (that'll be huge in NY). Just GO.

Leslie Gold, an long time NY DJ was hired to do afternoon drive there.

That leaves only nights or 10-2. I don't think either will work.

Could it be for another station other that WXRK?

Maybe Darian O'Toole will give them some suggestions on how to succeed in New York. :)

Or, maybe that are making stuff up again. How did that move to L.A. syndication work out that they were talking about years ago work out?
Edited by mrradioguy99 on 11/22/05 07:52 PM.

The Dog House will take 10-2 in their new slot. They did say that they will be working at Howard's old station as they were there meeting over the weekend.

And as for thanking Ken Kohl, he was the only one to give them an opportunity and from jumping from the #4 market to #1 has a lot to do with Ken. Without him, they would not have had a chance to even come back on the air so they are genuinely greatful.

Free FM in New York? WNEW did the FM Talk thing and it pretty much tanked the whole time. What makes them think it'll be different this time?

They did okay in the demo they were going after.

Granted, it was basically the Opie & Anthony plus friends station, but if you wanted 18-34 men, it did fine.

On the other hand, no one that wanted women or 35+ touched it.

Reluctant congratulations, based on prior performances, they have a reputation for prematurely "tooting their own horn"

Chances are, this is another form of PR schtick for them...bring back their listeners, then tease them to say that they're leaving so there's an "uproar.." (they hope)

Don't think they're really market #1 potential, heck, surprised they made it back to #4.

Maybe a syndication deal, that is, when SF gets its new CHR. (sarcasm implied)
Wouldn't the time line up fairly well for that and a 10-2 in NY?

Ah heck, best of luck guys, and as stated below, please remove your lips from KK's rear, it makes for genuinely uninteresting radio.

AllAccess on The Doggies In NYC

It just made AllAccess:

----------
After temporarily filling in for mornings at Talk KIFR (106.9 FREE FM)/SAN FRANCISCO, THE DOGHOUSE- JV AND ELVIS- told listeners TUESDAY that they're heading to NEW YORK for middays 10a-2p at sister WXRK/NEW YORK when that station flips to Talk under the FREE FM banner on JANUARY 3.

With the previous announcements of DAVID LEE ROTH for mornings, LESLIE GOLD for afternoons 3-7p and PENN JILLETTE's show presumably filling in the 2-3p slot, the DOGHOUSE announcement -- if it's true -- would round out the station's daytime lineup.
---------

Please note that A) the item only quotes JV and Elvis, and B) there appears to be no outside confirmation of their announcement.

Re: AllAccess on The Doggies In NYC

The Dog House if they head over there will probably without Hollywood if I am guessing. Hollywood has three daughters while Elvis and JV don't have kids.
