Yet another format idea...

Emmis would never syndicate Dees out of the company.

Besides, isn't he even older than Ron or Steve?

Rigdon O. Dees came to WMPS from WSGN, Birmingham, replacing Bob McLain. Somebody did research in the mid-80's, years after Dees left for LA, which showed a great number of Memphis respondents apparently thought they still listened to him every morning.

Money talks, and Emmis doesn't have any presence here.

He's older but still hip, apparently.

Gotta love the staying power of "Disco Duck", don't 'cha know.... ;D

Not to mention 30 years in the #2 market, plus a highly sucessful syndicated show. ;D

Actually, Disco Duck had a featured spot in some recent TV show or commercial, or something. I can't recall what it was, tho.

And...wasn't there some time on TV's "Solid Gold" for a while there? ;D
can't just let that slide by........

Yeah, so what are your career "highlights" you would just as soon forget ? ;D

Hey Meepster, I saw Charlie Maxey Sunday in a BBQ place in D'burg.

I always liked Charlie okay. Did his hair show up, too? ;D

I remember one day in the studio, he said to me, and I quote..."You probably never noticed, but this isn't my real hair!" He was serious, and I thought I was going to die trying to choke back the laughter. I haven't seen him in years, but the only thing that would have made that rug look more fake...would have been a chin strap!
Maxey's okay! But it may be time to let the young dogs take over.

A while back WASL/WTRO brought in a guy who had been let go from a Jackson CC

OOPS....I hit the wrong button and posted the message before I was thru. Anyway, the new fella is being groomed to take Maxey's place. Steve Guttery got pissed that he didn't get the gig and quit. He had been there since the mid 70's. He started there part time when he was in high school. He's now working for the Chamber of Commerce up there.

....a lot of folks on this board with D'burg ties. Anyone remember Al Wood besides me?
