Yet Another NBC Show About Them.

Since 30 Rock is done, I think it's safe to say it won't air after 30 Rock.

I'll miss Fox as slimy and manipulative attorney Lewis Canning on The Good Wife. Canning even uses his disability (though it's something else - not Parkinson's) to get sympathy from judges. Great character.

I assume his new gig won't allow him to continue that recurring role - especially since it's on CBS.

In his new show, Michael J. Fox will play a reporter for NBC's New York O&O. Wonder if it'll air right after "30 Rock."

The Nooyawk Broadcasting Company does realize that 93% of the country is not in Market #1, don't they? Didn't think so. ;)

Which brings to mind the classic 1976 cover of the New Yorker:

I don't think it's typical for restrictions like that, atleast for guest starring roles on entertainment programs on other networks. MJ Fox would probably not agree to such clause either. Meredith Vieira hosted Today and Millionaire, although the latter was syndicated but syndicated through ABC.

Also such would pretty much prevent anybody from a CBS or ABC show hosting SNL.

It's not like being on NBC News, and doing a freelance side project for CBS News.

In articles I've read about Fox's new show, the emphasis has been on the fact that he will be playing a character who takes time off from a very public job (local TV news anchor) to deal with his Parkinson's Disease ... and then returns to his job. The articles also say it's based loosely on Fox's own life. http://money.msn.com/now/post.aspx?post=3231091b-51ba-4aa4-bb10-5731010fb3c9
So, I'm looking forward to a show that can possibly look at the humorous side of dealing with a disability and then returning to a job you loved.
I suppose they didn't have to make him an anchorman in NYC. He could have been a TV news reporter in Boise, Idaho. Guess we'll see in the fall how important that detail would have been to the show.
