Yet another new morning show on Telemundo

Telemundo has yet another new morning show. "Un Nuevo Dia" which roughly translates to "A New Day" is now airing 7AM-10AM, replacing "Levente". Seems to me that in terms of morning shows Telemundo is the CBS of the Spanish Language Networks despite being owned by NBC-Universal Comcast. CBS is always changing morning shows. Meanwhile at competitor Univision their own morning show "Desperita America" was recently expanded to 4 hours and now airs 7AM-11AM.

I have 2 ideas for Telemundo.

1. Simulcast the Today show from NBC and dub it in Spanish.

2. Go back to running cartoons in the morning or run telenovelas.

Remember though, Univision was basically the NBC of Spanish language television, as in the pioneer; they were there first as national network under Spanish International Network and even in the 80's I knew 'the Spanish channel' as Univision. Until NBC bought it, Telemundo had various ownership for years, going through idiotic things such as Sony's 'lazy translation of our film library' era and having to pretty much buy shows from weaker Latin American networks because of U's monopoly on Televisa and Venevision.

Also, it's perfect timing, as Telemundo is pretty much the go-to for Olympic soccer for the next three weeks for most people (especially those who won't get the NBC HD Soccer Channel or can't stand the English language announcers on MS/CNBC). Promote the heck out of it and see if you'll get a few converting viewers.

And a Today translation would make for even more of a disaster than the Ann/Savannah travesty. Most Latino viewers aren't going to care at all about the missing persons or advice given when they want advice tailored to them and news from their homeland, which is never covered outside of the regular 30-second 'yet another landslide in El Salvador/shooting in Mexico' variety in the quick rundown.

leave us not forget Telemundo's (while still under SONY ownership) first Morning show attempt was a Telemundo version of CBS This morning with Jose Diaz Balart as host

They did have success with De Mananita w/ Pita Ojeda and Luisa Fernanda

Regarding idea 1: Don't be ridiculous! No one will want to watch Matt Lauer and Al Roker being dubbed!

I'm leaning towards idea 2. Although I think we can have an option 3: Spanish home shopping in the morning and overnight, or those phone-in contests.
