Yet, another pirate, this time in Methuen.

Yet another pirate has sprung. This time it's in the Lowell/Methuen area on 99.1. Apprently, this is your garden type religious pirate en Espanol with a fairly potent Stereo signal. It must be strong as it even overpowers the IBOC slop 400 kHz away! Considering that WPLM-FM (99.1) is still part of the Boston market and has listeners in the area (in spite of the IBOC slop), this is truly amazing. This is becoming a joke.

There no job downsizing or job cuts on Pirate Radio . Pirate radio is the future of radio .

instead of playing pranks on your competition... how about giving thanks to the first person who can take the guy off the air?

This is what happens when laws don't get enforced with any regularity. It used to be that pirates found "empty" frequencies, or at least didn't overtly attempt to interfere with licensed services. Now, they're getting bolder. They park on top of licensed stations, advertise in the newspapers and hold street fairs. IOW, they get right in the FCC's face, and nothing's being done about it.

The FCC has become a gelding.

If he isnt causing interference than why snitch him out for his hobby... Ill be the first to admit,, I operate a pirate station, but I utilized an open frequency of a local that signed off,,, My TX is filtered, and we go the extra mile to avoid causing any interference... I know not all pirates are so curtious,,, but they arent all bad people,, and we dont generate profit from it,,, in fact we lose money to provide a comunity service that Commericial radio ignores.

...And you are also breaking the law.

1) This pirate is parked on an occupied frequency.

2) Several pirates in the Boston area (and, I'm sure, in other areas) "profit" from their law-breaking.

3) You can make every excuse you want to, but you are breaking the law...so, don't be surprised if you get a knock on the door from the Friendly Cookie Company. If they get around to it, that is.

Rapking, have you thought about moving to Somalia? I hear there's some great ones off the coast these days! ;D

It is the pirate that moved from 99.9 to 99.1...comes in really well throughout Lawrence and Methuen, even into good portions of Haverhill and over to N. Andover. Nice radius, if you can get it. A thread a few weeks ago speculated that the stick is somewhere in the Tower Hill section of Lawrence...nice hilltop, if you can get it.

The difference between Mid West Clubber's pirate and the Boston pirate stations is like speeding 70 in a 65 versus 85 in a 25. Both are illegal. If there are no cops, people will speed as fast as they want. There are some cops that write you a ticket for going 2 mph over the limit, and some cops that don't pull you over if you pass them going 20 over the limit.
