Yet another reason why 790 KABC sucks ...

... You can't audio stream their programming! Only podcasts available! How lame!

The title you chose "Yet another reason why 790 KABC sucks" implies that you believe there are one or more other reasons why KABC sucks. That being case, why would you even care if you could listen to them online or even on-the-air?

It's rather like complaining that a restaurant's food sucked and the portions were too small.

Maybe so he has a constant gauge on the level of suckage in order to equal it with the proper amount of disdain and ire? ???

I guess Bug couldn't read/wasn't aware of the Listen Live links in the upper right corner of the KABC home page http://www.kabc.com/ that give you a choice of the KABC player or the iHeart player (as SuperRadioFan mentioned).

Indeed, the KABC player does take a longer-than-usual while to load up on screen, but eventually it gets there.
Just checked both player links in addition to the direct streaming URL link and all are up and running.

Unless there was some technical glitch that knocked the players off-screen or temporarily muted their volume, I don't know what Bug was/is referring to.

Another reason? Please! KABC is just amazingly bad. But, it appears that John "Foul Mouth" Phillips is not on the air regularly, if at all. This, of course, is good for the station and for the listeners.

Btw, some of us who really have a lot invested in talk radio in Los Angeles, and who know just how good properly done talk radio here can be, listen to KABC (like the KABC Morning Mess with Doug "I can't pronouce any names / I hate Roger Mahoney" McIntrye and T-Rae "Always Mumbles and Cackles" Elmer not because we like what KABC is doing BUT, rather, we cannot believe a radio station can be so horrible.

And with seriousness and sadness but with resounding hope (likely misplaced) while we listen sometimes awestruck as to the just rancid radio the Morning Mess is, still and all we long for the day KABC management wakes up to the possibilities that really do exist to bring KABC back. Way back into the 21st century - a century they have yet to see.

So we listen not to punish ourselves but, rather, on a "busman's" holiday to discover how bad KABC will be before Drew Hall or someone else rescues the Los Angeles talk radio version of the Titanic.

Actually KTLK is just as bad as KABC. Both stations are completely un-listenable. The only hope for KTLK is that they might turn all sports if NBC radio has more say. Apparently that genius Jack Silver is in charge of NBC Sports radio and was saying something that they wanted more time than the few hours they stole from Phil Hendrie. Giving sports the David Cruz time slot would be a definite improvement.

So just before lunch today I hop in my car and turn on the radio and it just happens to be on KABC (Heyyy... who has been in my car and messing with my radio?) and I hear the last minute or so of the Geraldo show. About 20 seconds before his hard out at the top of the hour he goes to this phone caller that sounds like he is a very smart articulate guy who is going to verbally destroy whatever buffoonery Geraldo has put forth beforehand and just as he is getting going, Geraldo cuts him off without warning and says we are out of time, he'll be back tomorrow.

Multiple layers of suckage going on here, but for the love of God, Geraldo is supposed to know something about broadcasting - some might even confuse him with an actual professional. I have never been behind a radio mic in my entire life and even I know that you don't take a call with 20 seconds to go before a hard out. This is the talent that Cumulus wants to build a talk radio network around? As the Jewish people say, "Oy vey!"

No worries channelflipper ;D Mr geraldo will be a jersey senator before ya know it and we can move on to the next peep we will complain about. I say give john ziegler a spot and bring mr kabc back. Give joe crummey a slot also. I will take geraldo over dave cruz on ktlk anyday year whatever. He is a really boring boring boring man on radio!!! Put doug back to overnights puh lease!!!

The insipid, horrible "coverage" that the KABC Morning Mess gave the cop killer story on the day it was breaking news. They have a 24 hour news operation or "center" as they call it on the air? PLEASE. Doug "I rant and cannot pronounce names" McIntrye and newsperson (using the term loosely) T-Rae "Always Mumbles" Elmer were simply overwhelmed. Could not handle it. No other KABC news personnel on air, certainly none reporting from the field. They relied on watching TV - wonderfully stupid KTTV-Fox.

My direct knowledge and memory of years ago at Metromedia-KLAC/KMET can remind others that in those glory days before we knew any better, we had real NEWS OPERATIONS. KLAC had a parking lot filled with marked news cars and the professionals to work them and report from the field well and often. And Two-Way Radio really was alive! And so many great people worked in a crowded, busy, active, cackling newsroom on Wilshire Boulevard.

Real news/talk radio. And what else? We had the newsroom covered 24/7 and field people out all the time. What a wonderful place to learn what radio could be. Always grateful to Larry McCormick - great radio guy who was a mainstay at KTLA for many years.

But KABC? Please. Play that tape of that shipwreck of that morning with confused Doug and always befuddled (and mumbling) Elmer. A joke.

And if you look at the discussion board for New York, appears WABC is as bad or worse than KABC. Frankly, I don't think it possible.

So you're saying you don't like the station. :D

Hey Channel Flipper, I think he's really saying "I am a masochist. I am a glutton for punishment."
It's like someone banging his head against the wall 50 times and the only reason to stop is because it feels so good when you do.
BTW congrats on your new wheels! What'd ya get?

Yes, PLEASE!! For the sake of the nation! We're a civilized people here on the East Coast and we need more talk overnight than aliens and diesel fuel.

You know , I've discovered a pretty good show on KFWB 980 am from 10-3am , Overnite America , hosted by Jon Grayson. Wide variety of topics , interesting guests ....Try it !!

Yep! I've been listening to Grayson online since the demise of McIntyre's Red Eye Radio. Unfortunately here in Southern Connecticut his show isn't available on terrestrial radio.
