Yet another solution for mobile listeners

After thorough research and internally debating over my next electronics purchase (Droid?, iPhone?, iPad?), I decided to do a Peyton Manning and call an audible at the line of scrimmage and spring for an Asus Eee PC Model 1005A Netbook. I wanted something that could do a little more than a smart phone (basic word processing, HTML editing, audio editing, etc.), but not something as heavy or bulky as my Dell laptop. Guys, I have to tell you. This thing is awesome! So lightweight, yet fully functional and FAST! And this baby velcros easily to your dash or interior panel of your car, so streaming Internet radio in the car is a piece of cake. And the extended battery life obviates the need for a power source in the car. So I kept the basic bare bones cell phone I have, along with my Sprint network card. This little setup will work GREAT when I am doing remotes from the Berks Jazz Festival in March! At first, I was reluctant to even look at netbooks because I heard all of the talk about their performance and how they are not designed to replace a laptop. That may be for guys running all kinds of simultaneous apps, but this little Atom processor (1.6 Ghz) cooks, and with the 2 GB RAM upgrade, this little baby does just fine for what I need it to do--and for a price tag under $300!!--far more affordable than Steve Jobs' recent creation, which appears to be nothing more than an overgrown iPod Touch. Yet another VIABLE option for mobile Internet radio!!! :)
