Yet More Bad News For CNN...

Poor CNN. First last place, now this? Whats next? CNN gets hijacked and replaced by XXX?

That's a lulu all rightly but I see that type of thing virtually daily on my local Fox station (as well as audio dropouts, teleprompter failure and "whadda we do now co-host"?).

More fun to watch than Howdy Doody.

Maybe it's an Atlanta thang......

A couple weeks ago the noon weather girl showed an outside cam and tried to say "Look at all the clouds behind the city skyline" but she ended up saying "Look at all the clouds behind the shity skyline."

I wonder how many viewers(if any are watching) will file a complaint with the FCC?, i'm sure our administration
in Washington is aware of this now.

Their staffers apparently neglect to use spellcheck.

Check out this embarrassing typo captured from CNN earlier today:
http://www.dcrtv.com/cnntypo.jpg

I also see on-screen typos all the time, especially on local news broadcasts. Spell check wouldn't work in this case because "sh*t is a word. (can you say "sh*t" on this board? Don't remember.)

Everybody who uses word processing programs will learn an embarrasing lesson if they don't proof read, and rely just on spell check, which does NOT check for context. Here was my object lesson:

I frequently write reports for my job. About ten years ago, I had written a long report, spell-checked it, then printed it out. I was on my way out the door to put it in my General Manager's in-box, then decided to proof-read it manually. I found that I had mis-spelled the word "relate" as "felate." Spell check didn't find it because "felate" is a word, and I had spelled it correctly. But I obviously didn't want to mention oral sex in my report. Needless to say, I corrected it, and reprinted that page.

Since then, I always proof-read manually. But I imagine it's easy to miss this step on live TV when you're working fast and in a hurry.

If they're so totally desperate to file a complaint, perhaps they would benefit from a new hobby.

Personally, if I want news anymore, I'll just read it online. All the cable news channels have become a joke.

Yeah, I have no use for the cable news channels, either. If I want talking heads, I'll put on one of the many podcasts I listen to. :)

Interesting story... But isn't that word actually spelled with two L's?

Gawd, you're right., DTothe J. Perhaps my spell-check was disabled back then, or maybe I was just being clueless. Thanks for ruining a good story. ;D

Dare I ask - how do you know so much about fellatio?

Just because I can pick out a typo, doesn't mean I'm an expert in the subject.

In fact, I believe either that word or a derivative was used in a spelling bee awhile ago.
