Yipee-ki-yo-yippe-yay,He's a cowboy.

Punching them doggies and riding them bucs. Peter-Z heads to Dallas where's there's already a Jack station and the Oldies format is safe, (for now).

He can hang out with his buddy Chuck Finney.

Does this mean one of the best Oldies programmers in the COUNTRY (get it?) takes double duties?
Edited by RumourMonger on 06/06/05 11:08 PM.

Random thoughts:

1) You mean they didn't learn their lesson the last time they tried that?
2) Does this mean they really ARE about to change format.
3) The logical short list to me would be Marty, Ted McAllister or Dan Allen.

Okay, now everyone can bash those names. GO!

Yeah, but http://www.sibcycline.com/AgentBio.asp?mls_id=201273 had no people skills, was full of himself and wanted the stations devoid of personality. Rockin' Ron could do the job with Marty as Market or Operations manager.

That would be a hell of a team.

The bigger story (besides when will your oldies station in Cincy flip...we have both a Jack and an oldies in Denver so we're already WAY over mixed with crap) is Infinity naming a guy the head of their Jack operations. Is Infinity going to evolve the name into an actual 70's based format with some 80s mix oldies format for the company? Let's take into account that Infinity, if I'm not mistaken, is the largest "owner" of Jack formats. The studies have shown that the 40-55 demo (not a target in the Arb's, but an evolving and very "keep up with the Jones's" segment that they want to traget, as oldies was when it was in its begining stages...they want toys and they have cash)...anyway, that demo, right now, doesn't like to be called "old". So, as a company, you take a controling interest in the format, like CC did with Kiss stations at first, take on Cadillac Jack and his crew on a contract basis (since they "own" the out-of-the-box format) and evolve the format into what their oldies stations were becoming anyway (more 70's based), without calling their listeners old. At the same time they jump on a "name" that is very trendy and is getting a lot of press which is very appealing to advertisers (free advertising in a sence). Let me spin my past thoughts by saying Jack couldn't survive longer than 18 months, because if Infinity does this the format will have a focus and a goal. I'm still a firm believer that it's an 18-month, hit based B.S. format if it doesn't evolve into this. I think by the performance that the already 12+ month Jack formats in the states have shown (all down from where they were a year ago), I'm right.

WGRR could go back to greatness with Marty at the helm..assuming the Jack writing isn't already on the wall.

>regardless of who is in charge at WGRR as program director, doesn't Infinity employ a programming consultant, who probably has more power than the local program director? WGRR sounded great for the 10 years that Ted McAllister was the programming consultant. I would like to see GRR become the fun station to listen to again like they were prior to 2000. With Infinity, or for that matter any large corporate chain owning the station, I don't see it happening.
